Warts Do any of your yorkies get warts? |
My 15 year old Yorkie has a small wart on her rear beside her tail. She has had it for about 4 years and other than it getting a tiny bit bigger it has never bothered her. I just have to remember it's there when I groom her so the clippers don't hurt it. She never scratches or rubs it and doesn't act like it hurts when I touch it. Her vet said sometimes dogs will get these and they can go away on their own, he didn't want to put Belle under anesthesia to remove something so harmless. Teresa |
Warts Thanks, Teresa....good to know. My little Yorkie, Gabby, had a wart that continued to grow and grow. It looked like it was about to fall off eventually, but I was afraid to pluck it off for fear it would bleed. Apparently, the groomer was not afraid because she took it off with no problem at all. However, I have noticied a few other little bumps starting to appear. I guess they are harmless. |
Not all bumps are harmless. Next time at the Vet, have them check them out. |

We used to call it her tiny brain because it kind of looked like a little brain. The doctor removed it and sent it in for analysis but it was nothing and I think he only had to do 1 or 2 stitches. When she was about 13 years old she got one on the side of her nose and it kept growing bigger and bigger (but it was totally different from the tiny brain)....you could tell this was full of blood. The doctor said don't worry it doesn't bother her and it will just fall off eventually. Well I should not have listened to him and I should have done something because I came home one day and it looked like someone was murdered. It had burst. I had to take her to the vet and they stitched it up but it was a MESS. Needless to say we don't go to that old man vet anymore because he is too laxed about stuff!! |
Smarty just had a wart surgically removed. We had to remove it because due to his biting it, it became infected. It is an expensive surgery. I would like to find a way to either prevent them, or treat them when they are very small. The only treatments I have found on the web are Vit. E, and caster oil. Some spoke of treating with interferon, but that is not an easy thing to get. J |
Our Ginger has several warts. The vet said they are no big deal and said as long as they don't bother her we can just leave them alone. She is 8 years old now and has had them for several years. |
