Puppy Trembling and looking sad Tonight Kahlua started trembling and his entire body was shaking from side to side. He also keeps biting at his legs and behind. He looks like he is not feeling well and that something is really bothering him. We tried looking to see what he was biting at to see if maybe it was an insect bite and we do not see any redness. We also bathed him so we could see better and to wash him off. We're not sure if he is having an allergic reaction to something (food or insect), if his blood sugar is low because he is such a picky eater, or if he has some kind of illness. We also tried giving him a little honey just in case it was his blood sugar and he is still shaking. Has this ever happened to anyone?? Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. :confused: :confused: |
Has he been eating? If not, have you given him any Nutri-cal or Karo syrup in case he is having a hypoglycemic episode? Otherwise, when did he last have a bowel movement? Could be constipated. How old is he? |
He is 15 weeks old today and he has had at least two bowels today. He's picky about eating and today he has probably only eaten 1 1/2 of his usual 3 servings. He wont eat out the bowl he will only eat out of our hand most of the time and he gets tired of it quick. Our vet had told us at the previous appt we could us karo syrup or honey when he doesnt eat well. We gave him honey tonight. The shaking has dimmed down some, but he is still shaking slightly and still biting has his behind and legs??? |
Flea bites? Other than that I would wonder about his anal glands. Perhaps he hasn't been able to empty them when he went to the bathroom. Last, I would wonder about worms. It's got me stumped. Here's a site about the different worms and stuff: http://www.wizardofclaws.com/parasites.htm |
We have been monitoring him over the past two days and the trembling has stopped, but I noticed that he is having trouble going to the bathroom #2, it is taking him awhile, and he is also still is biting at his butt. Is anal gland problems normal, and what do you do about them?? |
Hi there, first off I am sorry your doggie isnt doing well, I totally understand how worried you are. Its frustrating not knowing. Well here is sugeestion that might help, you can take him to a groomer and have them extract his anal glands... the cost is not alot, as a matter of fact it should be included with this grooming., but it shouldnt be more then 20.00. Also check to see if his hairs are long around his anal area, sometimes when their hairs are long they wont poop, its not that they cant, they just wont. Sanatary issue (instinctional) I hope my advise helps a little. Please let us know what happens. Good luck. ;) P.S If he is constipated, give him some or half of the little ceaser (wet dog food) or pour some dog food gravy in his dry dog food |
Sorry to hear about your baby. Try some wet dog food to see if it helps... Last night Abbie started shaking again too, I then noticed her licking her tail ALOT and while I was freaking.. I thought that her hair may be to long for her to potty... Glad i heard it from somewhere else too.. will try that and see if it works |
Anal glands? Poop problem? thanks for the replies. he had stopped doing it for awhile, and today we noticed it again. we are almost positive its a poop problem or anal glands problem. He hasnt gone much today. We are going to try trimming around his anal area, its grown back and that could possibly be it, and we are going to try some wet food. Thanks for the replies again.
