Itchie rash My little Yorkie Willow has had a scaly rash on her back and legs. SHe has been given a steriod for the itch but no plan of attack to soothe her and remove the rash. It is red and scaly. Any ideas of what I could do to get rid of it or soothe it? I have used the rinses but no real help. Hotspot doesn't do it either. I use dandruff shampoo at my doctor's directions. |
Does your vet have any more suggestions? What are you currently feeding? We went through the itchys with Lily and the only thing that solved them was changing the food to a non-processed, grain-free diet. Good luck! |
Could be a food allergy, but since it's just on the back legs, maybe it's a grass or weed allergy. If it were one of my dogs, I wouldn't be giving steroids to them, but your Vet. may know best. I'd be changing the food, maybe go to a grain free food like Merrick Before Grain. I'd get their Buffalo, NOT salmon. Fish and poultry are major causes of food allergies as well. And stop giving any type of commercial pet treats. Just give real fruit and make your own bones. (easy recipes everywhere) Buy some cornstartch baby powder and put on the rash to see it that helps. I do know it does soothe itchy rashes. Good luck in finding what works on your baby. I know it can be so draining on us moms when our babies are having problems. |
