Estimating size of yorkie?
 

I am wondering if there is a way to guesstimate how big my Gizmo will be when he is full-grown?? :aimeeyork

His mama was 8 lbs and his papa was 4 lbs. Is it safe to say he will be somewhere in the middle, about 6 lbs?

Right now, Gizmo is 15 weeks and weighs 2 lbs exactly.

No you can't estimate an average weight by adding the weights of the parents and dividing by two, wouldn't that be nice. Many breeders breed small males because they think this will make the offspring smaller, but it doesn't work that way either. For example, the mother could come from a line of small yorkies and be the biggest in her line, and she could throw small puppies, the father could be the runt of his line, and throw big dogs. That's why it's important for breeders to know the line. Not only that breeders often tell buyers what they want to hear about the dam and sires weight. Breeding males are often skinny minis and they take that as the adult weight, and that could be a couple of pounds under the desired healthy weight if he were not in the breeding mode. Some breeders have a problem keeping the weight on the males because of agitation of being around the females.

The other figure you have, the age is said to be a little more reliable in predicting future weight, many people say, take the 8 week weight and triple it or take the 12 week weight and double it, but even then there is some leeway, and you need to know you lines, and you could add or subtract a pound. I'd guess Gizmo will be around 4 pounds.

Nancy gave you a good detailed answer and I would guess your pup will be in the 4lb range. This website has a chart to help predict adult size.
