healthy This is my first time owning a yorkie (even a dog) she seems healthy, but how do I know for sure?? Should I be feeding her supplements? I cook her food, mostly chicken, or turkey with rice and some veggies. appreciate any advice:confused: |
Welcome to YT. :) The best way to assess your dog's health is to have an annual wellness exam done by a vet. Also observe your dog day to day: does she eat well and eliminate without problem? No dramatic changes in energy level or behavior? Are her coat and skin healthy looking? If I homecooked for my dog, I would consult a canine nutritionist to ensure that the dog is eating a balanced diet. |

Homecooking in general, but moreso for a pup, is not easy to get just right. It needs to be balanced by a veterinary nutritionist. If this is a pup, a balanced puppy food should be given until you consult the nutritionist. |

Also, you can tell a lot about what's going on with them by their poop. Gross I know, but firm poops are a good indicator of a healthy pup along with everything else that was mentioned. Welcome to YT! |
