If your pup is between 3 and 7 months of age it could be due to loose puppy teeth. Look in your pups mouth to see if there are loose molars, and premolars..if they are very loose and hanging you can pull them out like you did your own. They will thank you for it if they could! You may notice during this time they aren't eating as well either. Check for double teeth..where the baby teeth haven't come loose..this can cause bad breath, bad teeth and misalignment of the teeth. My Yorkie just turned 6 months..all molars and premolars are out but the canines(fangs) and one tiny incisor needs to be extracted due to the bottom new teeth being pushed inward. Hope you found your problem by now! |
I use this pet toothpaste from walmart, probably not the best stuff in the world, but it smells good to us (sort of sweet like vanilla, but not quite), and Harley LOVES it.... a word from the wise... I slacked off about 3 months ago, and only brushed a few times a week, and the vet growled at me two weeks ago, said he had too much plaque... needless to say we're back to a brush every day, with an actual finger brush... I'm not taking any risks. |
