How often do you change foods I know that some people do a diet rotation. My breeder tends to change dog foods about twice a year. I find that we change foods about once a year. However, one of my yorkies is a really picky eater and SHE loves the food we are currently on (Fromm Family Surf & Turf--we need to feed them Grain Free) and when I have introduced a few different samples she refuses to eat the new kind. My husband is also able to order Fromm through his store, so we get a good discount. I try to add a little bit of vege, fruit or meat to their diets to insure that they are getting everything they need. But I am curious, how long do/should you leave your yorkies on one particular type of food? |
When I fed kibble, we changed after each bag. Usually, between different flavors of the same brand but sometimes it was new all together. Fromm came out with another grain-free variety so maybe you could try that? |
I never change food. They have been eating the same food all of their lives. |
I change food every bag. I will go through a 6lb bag of Orijen, then when that's gone, I'll buy the 6lb bag of Acana, then when that's gone... I'll either go back to Orijen or find something else to mix it up with. |
I only switch between the Wellness Super 5 Mix or the Core Wellness kibble. I switch flavors of the can of Wellness 95% among turkey, chicken, lamb or beef. I stick to Wellness because they are a Mass based company and I like the fact that they haven't had any recalls. Personally if my two keep doing well I wouldn't switch companies at all. Just my opinion. |
I have switched a few times because we ran into some problem with one food or another, but in general I try to stick with what works. Right now mine are doing very well on Nature's Variety kibble and I dont plan to change unless we have a problem with the food/ company. I add something to dinner each night, whether its fresh veggies, some sweet potato, a little bit of chicken or fish, yogurt, cottage cheese, or a bit of a canned food. I think this gives them plenty of variety. It can be hard enough finding a food that agrees with your dog, I see no reason to keep switching if you are happy with something and your dog is doing well on it. |

I do the same thing. So hopefully we can stay on our GF Fromm for an indefinite period of time (though I might try to give mix it up for them a bit and get them the new GF Fromm flavor! |
