Teeth Cleaning Hi. I clean Maya's teeth two-three times a week and I noticed that she is starting to have a little bit of tartar build-up in one of her them. I was wondering if there is something I can do to remove it before it accumulates and I will have to take her to the vet. She lets me scrape her tooth so she wouldnt mind, so if I can have the right tool, I might be able to remove it. Is there anything? Thanks! |
I use Petzlife oral gel. They also have a spray. I love it and many give it great reviews! |
There are scraping tools. I have one, but I don't remember what they are called in particular. Anyway, I got it from Petedge. |
My DIL does her poodles. She uses a people dental pick -- looks like this only she has a smaller one: Dental Pick and Scaler - Plaque and Tartar Removers | Dentek I cannot get mine to keep still enough for me to brave sticking anything sharp into their mouths. But her poodles stay nice and still for her to clean them. She never has to get the dentals done at the vet. |
I need to do some serious reevaluation of caring for Sophia's teeth. She had a check up today. I went ahead and had them do a full exam including blood work, stool test, shot updates, etc. She has tarter build up on her back teeth...they don't look too good. The estimate for getting teeth cleaned was $281. That is in addition to the $386 I paid today for visit and a year of Sentinel. The vet bills are overwhelming me! and so near Christmas. I would love to hear what you all do for regular care. I don't want hers to get worse and I want to take care of the next pups better from the start. |
Regular Brushing is the secret and if this one doesnt work, so you baby has bad genetics and you can not do anything about that. $281 is very cheap! I had to pay $600 here in Toronto just for the cleaning! |
This is awsome! but they dont ship to Canada! I will have to get someone that I know to order that for me... Thanks!! |
If she will sit still enough, you can use a tooth scaler. I've used one on Vinnie before to remove tartar around the gumline and it worked really well. I think you can get them from Petmeds.com and other similar places. |
