cold and luxtating patella Pnut is fine when its warm..he is on supplements for his lp, but now that it is pretty chilly his leg is acting up more, esp on his walks! Not sure what i should do?? How do your babies handle the cold walks with their lp's? |
Luxating patellas cause arthritic changes and cold weather aggravates arthritis. It's probably a good idea to have him rechecked, though. His LP's may have gotten worse. |
Ya, he was just checked a month ago..it did get worse vet says we will have to have sx sometime. The cold really does a number on him. |
Max (my Morkie) has LP. His is worse when it is cold. |

Uni doesn't seem bothered any more or less by the weather. I still haven't seen her lift her leg since that one time. *crossing fingers* Hope hers stays the same. |
I am in MD and it has been really cold here. 25 degrees right now. Highs in the 30's lately. I noticed u are in CA. Different weather/state. |

He is a 2 and 3!! He only really limps when i take him on a walk and its cold! I stopped taking him for the time being, I will just play with him in the house :( |
My dog Daisy had two grade 4 LPs diagnosed when she was 8 weeks old. She had surgery on one leg at age 2 after she became lame. The other leg has never needed surgery. We live in New England and have brutal winters. Daisy is not affected by the cold at all -- however if her leg is bothering her or going in and out of place, I immediately crate rest her for several days in order to alleviate any trauma to the area. We do not use any supplements for LP. Daisy is now 10 years old. |
