!!!!thief!!!! I live with a thief, not only that :p my thief stole chocolate and ate it! Sprocket got up on the counter and stole an M&M that was in a dish, I can't be sure he ate it, BUT, I found the place where he chewed on it and the color came off on his blanket. I did not find any "dead" M&M piece or any other "presents" so I'm not really sure if he did eat it or only played with it and got the color on his fur. THIEF. OMG scare me to death. Anyway, Sprocket weighs about 10lbs, do you think one piece of M&M will hurt him if indeed he did eat it. He hasn't had any reaction so far, so I "think" he only played with it and taught me a very good lesson, DON'T TRUST THE DOG AROUND FOOD. I was SO sure I had put the dish away far enough that he couldn't get to it and he had never been on the counter before. Foolish me :shocked7q |
I'm not a vet, nor do I play one on TV, but I don't think ONE m&m is going to hurt him. Very smart dog... |
The higher the cocoa % the more theobromine within the chocolate, which is the toxin. Milk chocolate contains about 40 mg of theobromine per oz., whereas dark chocolates contain about 400 mg of theobromine per oz. Milk chocolate: A toxic dose is 1 ounce for each pound of body weight. Dark chocolate: A toxic dose is 1 ounce for each 9 pounds of body weight. |
Mine got on the table, opened a pizza box, took a slice (the box closed completely), then hid it under my pillow, which really freaked me out when I slid my hand under the pillow that night. |

Okay...THAT's a smart dog...totally cool |
I don't think one M&M will hurt him. My dad, much to my chagrin, gives his 19 lb Boston Terrier/Rat Terrier mix pieces of his chocolate chip cookies. I tell him not to, but he does it anyway  Buddy has never ever been sick though, so it must not hurt him! (When I told my dad that Buddy shouldn't be eating CHOCOLATE, my brother said "They don't have real chocolate in them!" (they're store bought chocolate chip cookies), so I read him the label to prove to him they did indeed contain REAL chocolate!) As long as your guy is acting normal and is eating/drinking/pooping, you're in the clear!!! :p |
