Do they eat less when they're teething? Hey all! Lately Stuart hasn't been eating more than maybe once a day. Originally I had to buy a slow feeding bowl because he couldn't get his food into him fast enough! I am wondering if it's because he's been losing his baby teeth and he's doesn't feel like eating? He does chew on his bones though so I doubt that's it. I was feeding him Royal Canin since about age 9 weeks, I tried a little bit or Origen this morning that he used to eat when he was still at the breeders. He did show mildly more interest in eating that... He seems like he's feeling well, has energy and has been peeing and pooping regularly...he is also still QUITE interested in whatever I seem to be eating... I just don't understand why he wont eat his food! any suggestions!? |
They may eat less when teething if their teeth are hurting. While sometimes 'chewing' (bones) can help relieve some of the pain, biting/eating can sometimes hurt a bit more esp with kibble. Palpate his teeth and see if he exhibits pain signals...that might tell a little. Maybe add in moist...or...add some water to his dry food to soften it up a bit. |
