When do you start feeding 1x/day?
 
Bambi's now 7.5 months old now. He still has bad eating habits. Soemtimes he eats alot, sometimes he doesn't want to touch his food. sigh... i feed him 2x a day now. I'm wondering when to start feeding him just 1x a day. how many times do you feed your babies?

My pups are 9 and 10 months and I free feed the hard and give them Lil caesars moist once a day as a treat. I have always feed them like this.

Peawee is 13 months and I free feed him hard and the moist 2 times a day.

My girls are 11 and 8 months, i free feed them :) i have done this from the start!

Magic is 13 months and Sailor is 11 months and we free feed them and have for while now...it really helps, since they are not always hungry at the same time!!

Beanie eats twice per day....both hard and soft food. He is 9 months old. I have been wondering the same thing in relation topotty training. ;)

We free feed Heidi hard food and do not use moist food, only what she manages to scrounge off the table, but we limit the mooching to only a bit now and then.

I do leave dry food out for Bambi all the time. But he hardly ever touches them. He's 7.5 months, and he's just 3lbs. The vet said he's healthy, but can gain a little bit more.....I think he's a bit to the skinny side too... when people hear 3 lbs at 7.5months, they think...aww...u have a teacup...but i really rather him be a strong big baby....but with the way he eats, he'll never gain more. :(

I free feed Natural Balance. He eats when he hungry. Works great for us. My little guy is 4 lbs.

I recommend free feeding. I would never feed a small dog just once a day. Myself? I wouldn't even feed just twice a day. This is just my opinion, but I think they need to eat at least three times a day, at least a little.

I have to agree with this post. I can't imagine feeding a small dog just once a day...or any dog for that matter. We free feed Jo & Riley but they also get a small portion of soft food in the morning with their ML suppliment and Derm Cap drops. Both of our boys are on the small side...Jo is a couple days over 11 months and he only weighs a few ounces over 3 pounds...Riley is 5 months and about the same weight but he hasn't gained any in a month. Have you tried other dry foods? Maybe he just doesn't like the brand in his bowl. You might want your baby to gain some weight but be careful...if he's at an acceptable weight for his size/frame and he's in good health I'd leave it at that. Gaining weight when it's not really needed can put stress on the joints, heart etc. and cause other health problems as well. I have noticed that since we had Jo neutered and he's got a few months older he's filled out a smidge...he seems to have an extra layer now. :)

At night I cook her chicken and rice. :)

We also free feed Miko. He eats whenever he gets hungry, and we just measure how much food we put out for him so we know he's eating enough. :)

Why do you want to feed your little one just 1 time a day ?

I free feed all my 4 Yorkies .
