Dull Coat, UTI's Our male yorkie (16 mos) had a thick dark shiny coat (cottony I guess--all fluffy and soft). The last few months it is suddenly dull and lifeless and unhealthy looking. No more shine. It even changed color like in a definite line halfway toward the back, where it goes from black to dull dark charcoal gray. Almost as if I powdered the back half of his fur. I always fed him Innova puppy, now adult small bites, but I wonder if Innova was bought out by P&G and it changed. Thinking of changing to Wysong's or Erlanger's maybe? He also gets frequent UTI's and this was true before the dull coat thing. Would a high meat food like Wysong's help prevent these, or is there a supplement I can use to help prevent them? Vet just contines to treat with Clavamox when he gets one. He is tiny, 3 1/2 lbs. Advice for dull coat and UTI's? Thanks. |
Have you tried adding a probiotic to his food? If the vet continues to put him on antibiotic, antibiotics strip the body of the good bacteria in the body resulting in many issues. A probiotic will replenish the body of the good bacteria and neutralize the bad bacteria. I'm not familiar with either food you mentioned therefore can't make a comment or suggestion about them. I recently added a probiotic to my dog's food and he is a completely different dog. The changes I've seen in him are remarkable. |
