I feed Natural Balance. I think it's the best; they use no by-products, meal or corn fillers. |
The "best" food for shelby is the kind she will EAT. She loves nutro lamb/rice dry and Natural Balance Meat rolls. Both are good quality foods. |
Thanks for starting this thread as I am interested in this topic as well! |
I started out with the Natural Balance Ultra, but I've since switched over to Solid Gold. They like it real well and their stools seem to be better, but I think that any of those foods are good as long as your dogs will eat them. What good is a great food if they won't eat it???... |
Mackenzie eats the Nutro Natural Choice lamb meal and rice. I believe its quality food and she likes it ;) |

I have agree with every one here. I feed nurtro products to my dogs and natural balance rolls as a treat. There is a web site and I will try and find it for you that goes over the ingredients in supermarket bought dog foods and thay are just awful :shocked7q I am not a breeder but my Lab has been on Nutro products for a long time and it has made a difference in her stool as well has her coat. You can almost see your reflection in it. And she was not always like that. And the nice thing about Nurto is they have a large variety to choose from, so if your pup doesn't like one you can try another. I prefer the Ultra. |

[QUOTE=HisNameIsHarley]I wanted to get harley the small bites kind of natural choice bc he's mouth is so small :animal36 but my local store doesn't have that type but they do have the ultra.. Do you think Harley could still chew them up properly? That is my only concern.. I think I've decided on Natural Choice simply bc it's main ingredient is lamb instead of chicken.. The other ingredients are pretty much equal.. Heck, I could feed him both at the same time! He'd LOVE that! Just mix them together! lol[/QU How old is he? They make a Ultra Puppy, wich has really samll pieces. I mix it with the ultra puppy wet and she just loves it. She gets it mixed with wet twice a day and once a day she just gets the dry. |
I feed Inova EVO |
I think it's great Harley will eat anything!!!! Boy did you get lucky!!! Princess is very picky. You have some really good foods posted. I would just use the one you think he likes best. :) :) :) :) |

Chicken Meal and Lamb Meal are fine. It just means it's been reduced in size/ground up. It would still have to be quality ingredients not by-products before it was ground. I'm happy with Canidae and was happy with Natural Balance and only switched to Canidae because it has pro-biotics in it which I think will be good for Loki's tummy. |
Solid Gold Just a Wee Bit I feed Simon and Nigel Solid Gold. It has the best ingredients, and their poop always comes out nice and hard. Ingrediants: Bison | Salmon Meal | Millet | Brown Rice | Cracked Pearled Barley | Rice Bran | Canola Oil | Flaxseed Oil | Garlic | Amaranth | Blueberries | Yucca Schidigera Extract | Dried Chicory Root | Taurine | Carotene | Choline Chloride | Vitamin E Supplement | Iron Proteinate | Zinc Proteinate | Copper Proteinate | Manganese Proteinate | Potassium Iodide | Thiamine Mononitrate | Ascorbic Acid | Vitamin A Supplement | Biotin | Calcium Panthothenate | Selenomethionine | Pyridoxine Hydrochloride | Vitamin B12 Supplement | Riboflavin | Vitamin D Supplement | Folic Acid | |
I think Natural balance is better than Canidae |
I went to Petsmart yesterday and was looking at the Natural Choice products and a lady was there representing the company. She answered all my questions honestly and was very patient with me. I am so impressed that a dog food company has so much confidence in all their products and ingredients that they place a representative in stores to help potential buyers. I talked to her about how much it bothers me that stores like Petsmart, Petco, walmart etc all stock foods that are terrible for dogs. It almost seems like they (dog food companies) have a deal with the vet science world. I mean, they (vets) prescribe science diet and iams etc even though these dog foods include ingredients that cause all kinds of health problems. She talked to me 'off duty' and said that she 'personally' has a real problem with all the other dog food brands because they all portray a look of health for the consumers dogs but really contain horrible ingredients and preservatives. I just thought this was very interesting and helped to build my confidence with this dog food brand. |
Dog Food My vet told me that Wellness dog food is the best around. I have fed it to my Maltese for 2 1/2 years. The Wellness puppy food is a bit too big for my little Yorkie so I've been giving her Royal Canin which the breeder had her on but she is itchy and her eyes water. She's almost 5 months old but she's got such a tiny mouth! I also did a comparison just for the heck of it between the Natural Choice Lamb dry food and the Wellness Lamb dry food. The Wellness blows the Natural Choice away! The Natural Choice also has beet pulp which causes tear staining. The Wellness has fruits and vegetables in all of their food as well which is awesome. I can't wait for Muffin's mouth to get a bit bigger so I can feed her the Wellness! In the meantime I'd like to get her off the Royal Canin and find her a good puppy food that she can chew. |

You're welcome. :) I love that site, because you can find any dog food and then you can click on details and see the ingredients. How neat is that! ;) |
Sully also eats the Nutro Natural Choice lamb meal and rice meal. He is very healthy and eats his food just fine. I think it's not as much a decision on which food is BEST, but which food is best for your dog. Every dog is different, though some foods are better than others, there is no best. Take the advice of people on here and you're bound to make a good choice for your dog! |
