Food at 12 weeks old Hi, My yorkie is 12 weeks old. I am wondering should he be eating both breakfast and dinner? He does not seem interested in eating in the mornings, only in the evening. He is doing great and a healthy weight (3lbs). Should he be eating twice a day? |

He doesnt have to eat alot just several small meals. One of my yorkies meals is canned food |
Mine will not eat unless I am in the room with them. But yeah...........at 12 weeks old, I really think he should have kibble out all the time. He is still too young to be eating only one meal a day. |
Thanks everyone! I am going to go buy some canned food today and see if he will eat that more than he does his dry food. |
Sprinkle a TINY bit of grated parmesan cheese on his kibble to see if that interests him. |
Pups should be being fed 4 x a day until 18 weeks of age, then switched to 3 x a day. Kibbles should be left at all times for these wee ones and they should be monitored, hyperglycemia can hit at anytime. Overhandling, overplaying, not enough food or rest are big contributing factors. The first year is a very crucial time for these wee ones. |
My breeder recommended to continue feeding my 12 weeks every 4 hours until she is 16 weeks old. Which I do during the day until about midnight, then she will eat again in the morning at around 6am. She does not always eat everything, but she will always eat something. I have dry food available all the time, but she never eats it. I mean NEVER. |
I just locked him in his crate with his food and he ate a good amount. I never thought of doing that but it gave him no other distractions besides his food and water. |
