Teething? I am losing flesh...HELP!?
 
Okay, Patrón has finally started really losing his teeth. Thus far he has lost his top 4 and bottom 6 teeth and his teething is absolutely horrid. I have lost lots of flesh due to him within the past 48 hours, what can I do? I have bully sticks and all sorts of chews. Any advice? I have only had golden retrievers and they have never teethed this badly. Also, he isn't chewing on furniture or anything but he is just being very snappy towards me or other people. =( He actually got me well enough I had to review my tetanus shot. =/

Please give me advice! I also have been trying ice cubes to try and get him through this unpleasant time.:eek:

Teething puppies can be given something cold to chew on, since the cold can help numb the pain and irritation in the gums. One simple way is to soak a rope toy in water and put it in the freezer. The frozen rope will be cold and comfortable for your puppy to chew on. If you have Lavender and Roman Chamomile essential oils, add a few drops of the oils to the water before soaking the rope toy. The oils have calming effects on your puppy.

Thank you! I actually just purchased felt and made a braided rope out of it to tie a bully stick to. I am going to try freezing it and see if it helps him. I really appreciate the advice. This teething is going to make me have new piercings! I feel like I have become the bully stick

I use the kong toy and fill it with peanut butter and freeze it. It keeps Zach busy for awhile. I bought three of them and keep them in the freezer.

This is another great idea. Will keep him busy for hours.

Teething, definitely not aggressive at all. Just wanting to teeth on something because he is in pain.

i know dumb ? but at what age do they start to lose the baby teeth
and how old when they are all finish just wondering

OH okay that is good because teething is alot easier to deal with. One thing you can do is when he chews on you say no bite and put a toy he can chew on in his mouth. Another thing you can do is when he does it say no bite and turn your back on him and stop playing with him untill he stops the chewing. Another thing you can do is time outs, put him in a travel crate for 5 or 10 mins when he does it

I took some material like a washcloth and dipped it in water. Then I rung the water out and twisted it like a pretzil. I then froze it in the freezer. I only gave her this when she was supervised because I was afraid she would get a string out of it. Mine eats everything so this was nice while watching tv she loved the cold frozen cloth on her gums. Also gave bully sticks. She is 7 months old and now with her new teeth she still has a good chomp on your fingers. Bully sticks are a must. Hope this helps.

We have used the Kong toys and froze them....worked great!

Great idea on the braided rope with the essential oils...I'll remember that!!!
