Iams Issues Um, I just did some research on the dog food brand Iams and I am quite disgusted. I know it's a very common dog/cat food but I had no idea of the disgusting and horrible things they do to 'tester' dogs and cats. Anybody have any opinions on this? All you have to do to learn more is go to www.google.com and type in Iams or Iams Eukanuba. I've heard that many dogs do well on this brand of food but at this kind of cost? (not money.. but the pain and the deaths of these innocent animals?) Imagine if they were using your baby for testing? |
Wow.. Im gonna have to look this up more. :( We've always used Eukenuba for Daphne ever since she was a baby, and now we are switching over Taylah too right now! That's horrid! I know Daphne has been on it her whole life and she's done really great and is a great pom, and great structure and shape to her! :( |
This is absolutely horrible. I am glad I no longer use Eukanuba. I am curious to find out what other companies test on animals. I use solid gold. Their page says they use an independant laboratory for "analysis". Don't know exactly what this means |
Ive read about that too and dont buy Iams because of it. |
I dont use Iams either and now that I know that I will tell other people about it. I use Neutro Natrual and I have had GREAT results with it. My baby loves it and it keeps his skin from getting so oily and nasty feeling. |
WOAH!!! holy cow I cant believe that...OMG! SO what the heck do we switch to I am using it too right now...of course Dollar wont eat it b/c he only like wet food, but still! :( |

Well , I for one have bought my last bag of Iams and Eukanuba. That is just terrible and I can't hardly feed it to my kids now even though I must mix it with something and get them changed over. Where do you get the Neutro- I heard someone else say that the dogs don't smell so doggy or stinky on that. Is it available at the Petstore ( I hate to use Petsmart after reading about that ladies baby having her tongue cut by the groomer today) but its about the only place to get fresh dog food. |
You can get it at Petsmart, Petco or a local pet store may have it also. My little baby does very well with that food. He doesnt smell or get dandruff or oily like he used to. I get the Lamb and Rice its in a green bag. Give it a try, I have good luck with it!! |
I use Canidae w/ Harley. It's a little expensive and I get it from a small local petstore. Harley really likes it. Here's a site that shows other dog food brands that test on dogs.. http://www.uncaged.co.uk/petfood.htm |
Just found this really cool site.. It's about all natural dog food.. Looks pretty cool.. Sounds A LOT better than Iams.. gggrrrr http://www.barfworld.com/ |
Quite awhile back I started doing a lot of research to find what I considered the best dog food for my pups (well, I only had 1 at the time). While doing so I ran into all of the stuff regarding Iams and their practices and have never and will never purchase any of their products. Not only do I not have a need to, but I also feel a little better knowing that I have done my part in telling the business that this should not be tolerated! I ended up choosing Innova Evo dry food and use Nutro canned food. Love both of them! |
a very good breeder/member of yt suggested royal canin and bil jac to me. i have used iams and pro plan and pedigree. i'm going with her suggestions now and so far so good! i also have a friend who has one of my puppies and she tried lots of foods with her little girl and she finally settled on royal canin because her girl loves it and it is a really good food. |
I looked at a few sites and didn't see Natura (who makes Innova) on them as being one that does not test on animals. Does anyone know about them????? I feed Samson Innova right now. |

They are DISGUSTING! And the truth about the way the do things over at the Iams company should be made public knowledge bc so many people buy it bc they are uneducated. |
