Jesse's eyes are very watery, should I be concerned? I'm sure I should be, Does anyone know what causes this or have experience with it? Jesse's eyes tear a lot, there is always wetness underneath his eyes from tears. I an constantly cleaning the area. I have a vet app for him on the 29th, but I don't trust my vet at all ( I have only one vet in my community ) Any ideas on what may cause this? Thanks in advance. |
Does he get any hair in his eyes? Kaji's unruly hair can and has caused tearing. |

Also, food can be a factor. When Jackson ate Wellness Super5Mix and Fromm... eye boogers were terrible! Not sure if it was a specific ingredient, etc, but they were bad. I've heard others complain about this on both of these foods too so maybe it's not just me. I did a few trial runs where I put him on Wellness for 2 weeks and the eye boogers would return, then I'd take him off it and they'd go away.... Natures Variety Instinct was the food we were feeding at the time and never had any issues with eyes. He is eating Acana now as well with no problems except the occasional eye 'crusty' that's easy to get out :) |

I would look into changing the food you are feeding him. I have the same issues and am switching foods to see if it slows down. |
Eye tearing can be due to allergies, teething, hair poking them in the eye, an out of balance pH, and many other things. It's not serious unless it's excessive, for example, the mustache is wet and the area is moist all the time, as this can lead to a yeast infection. It could be that the tear duct is getting clogged. That happened sometimes with my girls at times. I used Trioptic S when any of my babies had a problem, and it cleared up the inflammation and the tear problems fairly quickly. It works great. It is a prescription, but I always had a tube on hand. My vet knew me well enough that I would be in with them if there were a probem, since I always took them more than just their yearly checkups. Therefore, medications like that he would let me have so that I could start right away the minute I saw a problem. In all of the years using it, it never caused a problem. I used it any time there was any redness or discharge from the eye. He also told me to use it in their eyes before a bath to protect them from the irritation from the water or shampoo, but mineral oil can do the same for that. |

I hope it goes well for you and Jesse. It probably will be able to be taken care of without too much of a problem. It really could be the hair that you are trying to grow out, and that will be accomplished in not too much time. I'll be praying for a great outcome. |
