Inner ear infections Brownie my Yorkie Always has had a problem with regular ear infections usually due to being allergic to something. Never a big deal treat them and thats it. Now he get's inner ear infections ever few months Poor thing is in pain every time the vet has he meds a refill i dont even have to bring him in anymore I want a cure or something for this i feel really bad for him. Last time he ate a fruit loop and it cause it this time Nothing he just woke up with it. I use his ear drying wash often because if his ears get wet he gets one. Any help? |
You mentioned allergies - has he been tested for them? Have you tried Claritin, Benedryl, etc? I normally don't have allergy symptoms but if I don't take an allergy med I get fluid behind my ears, vertigo, etc. Maybe Brownie's kinda like me. Does your vet have any ideas to prevent the infections? |
Oh gosh. Ellie gets yeast infections from water and stupid allergies. They are always itchy and not really painful though. What drug does the vet give? I really don't think there is any way to prevent it. I know it may sound easy to just get to the bottom of it, but it isn't. I wonder if a derm would be able to help. Or I'm thinking keeping him on steroids would (to stop the itch and inflammation), but that's no good either. Is it only when he gets something he shouldn't have? |

I wish it was the itchy kind of ear infection he use to get, these are painful last time he sat with his poor little head agaist the wall. the vet gives him mometamax. Normally there is a cause but i cant think of anything that could have caused it But with him it could be anything. |
I know it's not a "cure" but have you tried probiotics and enzymes. My wheaten is a mess (overbred, over vaccinated, etc) but these really help her- also finally getting her off all carbs has been amazing! Canadae food(no grain) has really been good for her... |
