Wolfie had to go to the ER Wolfie had to go to the ER last night. Stumbling around, he couldn't keep his balance, kept falling. Freaked me out so off to the ER at 9pm until 130am. They checked my baby out for Anti Freeze and Seizures and Liver shunt they wanted to keep him 48 hours and do test at $1800 - $2300.00 - He was much better by 1am and I took him home, he was still lethargic but walking and kissing me. Today he went to the vet and they will do the Liver shunt test and we'll go from there. The ER was nuts, they would have bleed me dry before I even knew what was wrong with him. My groomer who is also a breeder said I did the right thing. When you are so stressed out and upset you can't think straight. Especially when it comes to your fur babies. Mine is only 10 months old and my baby for sure. Anyone else going thru this? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/ima...c/progress.gif |
It is very difficult to think straight during emergencies, I totally agree! It can be so scary. You did the right thing in taking him in right away. Did the event happen after he ate food/dinner? Did they do other blood work? If not, it would be nice to get a full chem panel to assess what the rest of his levels are up to. I hope you get answers soon for little Wolfie! |
Sorry your little one is ill. I have been there many times with my gang. They always seem to get sick after vet hours. I also have at times taken them home rather than leave then there unless their life is in danger. I live so close to the er I can get them back quickly if needed. I think in most cases they do better at home anyway unless they need immediate treatment. I would have the liver shunt test done and blood work and go from there. Hope it was just an isolated incident. |
I'm glad you are getting a bile acids test done. As Wylie's Mom said, have them do a full panel, too, unless they did one at the ER vet already. |
