Diatomaceous Earth I tried a search but nothing came up. I thought that there was a previous thread on diatomaceous earth - but can't find it. Has anyone had any experience with using this? |
I have heard of it. I know it's used in some pool filters. I looked into it because I was having a problem with millipedes in my yard, and it supposedly helps to get rid of them without being dangerous to my furbutts. Hope this helps a little. |
Hi actually my very good friend uses it. She takes it her son takes it she gives it to her dogs BUT you need to get the food grade. It takes care of everything. I plan on getting some my local feed stores don't have it yet. hth |
you can buy it at the health food store. Linda, Sassy and Patti |
I've seen it at wal-mart. Supposed to get rid of fleas, too. Inside or outside.:) |
If you're wanting it to get rid of pests, you can read this link: How to Use Diatomaceous Earth safely for Pest Control | eHow.com This is another link with different kinds you can buy: http://www.google.com/#q=diatomaceou...48f386b3c06fd8 |
If want to take it as a dietary supplement(for humans and our furbabies) make sure you get the food grade Amazon.com: Diatomaceous Earth, Food Grade 50 lb.... I am sure you can find it locally so you don't have to pay so much in shipping hth |
I went into this pet store today and gave him the rundown on my yorkie's battle with soft stools. I mentioned that he had previously giardia. He said (and I had heard about this before too) that giardia is very hard to get rid of and hard to detect. So he suggested I try the diatomaceous earth. He said to sprinkle one teaspoon on to his food daily. Supposedly as a supplement, it helps with everything from worms, parasites, fleas, ticks, as well as hair coat, skin, and joints. In humans it helps give you more energy, aid in weight loss, cleansing digestive tract, stronger hair and nails, healthier skin, and so on and so on. The list was neverending with all the benefits. But I was curious if anyone has ever used it and if so, what their experience with this was. Thank you. |
That sounds great. I didn't know that. |
I had no idea it had all of those uses! |
I've read some amazing things about diatomaceous earth after I found it in a search for an organic flea-killer. I tracked down a local supplier and during a visit, I was given a free sample to try of the food-grade diatomaceous earth. For the fleas, we were supposed to sprinkle the powder on their bodies and in their beds, on the floors, etc. We did and to be honest, we weren't impressed. I really hate the smell. It smells like dirty dog, lol. I still have some and I use it on my plants to keep the snails away, but it doesn't enter the house. |
