Teeth Trinity is about 6 months now. Her adult teeth are still coming in. I noticed that her canines are just now coming in and the baby teeth remain so she has double row teeth on the top and bottom with the canines. How long do I wait to see if the baby ones will fall out? As I said, the adult ones are just coming in now. |
Those usually get removed when they are spayed/neutered. Jackson was almost 7 months and had to have 4 baby teeth removed. |
I have always spay/neutered early but she is only about 3.6lb now. It makes me nervous to have that done when she is so tiny. I will def talk to my vet about all of this. Thanks for the input. |
Kasha had 6 teeth that were "shark teeth" she got them pulled when she got spayed. She was a little bigger (about 4.3 lbs) but she did great. Talk with your vet, mine was really supportive of my questions about Kasha's size & safety. |
There is a good chance these teeth will fall out by themselves. My Edie had 2 rows of teeth for a short while. But the baby teeth DID fall out on their own. |

Max actually had one up on top that somehow came out later and we just had it pulled when he got his teeth cleaned a couple of weeks ago and he's 3 yrs old. Thankfully it didn't affect the other teeth but it could have. Moe is 1 yr old and still had 2 baby teeth that we had pulled when he got neutered. One thing we did that helped a lot was to have x-rays... that way they can see what's there. Sounds crazy but Yorkies do have dental problems and as with humans the only way for the vets to SEE what's really going on is with an x-ray. :) |

She still need to lose her upper canines and I hope it wont take long *fingers crossed* |
I'm sure everybody's experience is different, but I do believe the consensus is that most likely than not - they will not fall out. My little guy had 11 baby teeth removed at 8 months. He is only 2.7 lbs and he did really good. I was very concerned about putting him under anesthesia because he was so small, but when I picked him up he acted as though nothing ever happened. My vet was so good in keeping me informed and making me feel comfortable about the anesthesia - but thank God everything went well. |
