We brush Khloe's teeth every other day, and also use the additive for her teeth, and lately her breath is still n-a-s-t-y. It smells kind of like tuna, and we feed her the chicken and oatmeal Blue Buffalo. It may be that she is cutting or losing teeth, but you are not alone my friend. Poor babies. And when we picked her up from the breeder, her breath was super funky. They were feeding the Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul food. My husband said "I love puppy breath", picked her up, and made a funny face of disgust. Needless to say, she didn't have pleasant puppy breath. (: lol. |
Has Izzy had a dental check up? Yorkies are notorious for bad teeth. Might want to have them checked. Bad teeth, tartar buildup and just food caught inbetween can cause smelly breath. |

I have used this liquid that you add to their water, along with a mouth spray and it works pretty good. I stopped using the water solution because once we got the new puppy, it appears he is sensitive to it. I have my groomer brush their teeth - I go once a month - and so far I have been able to control it. I'm sure my Coco will be needing a visit to the vet for a dental cleaning in the near future. I don't brush their teeth - I know I should though. |
My Edie is almost 10. I never had much success with toothbrushes or even those finger brushes. About a year ago I started using Dr. Smith and Foster pads--they work great and I highly recommend. If you use daily, the plaque will go away gradually. and they make Edie's breath smell great. |
I use Tartar Shields Soft Rawhide chews for Small Dogs. They work great and Mocha loves them! They're not available in stores. I buy mine at my vet, but you can order them online at www.tartarshield.com These rawhide chews prevents tartar, prevent plaque, prevents gingivitis, reduces bacteria, and freshens breath! I give him one a day in place of traditional rawhide, which aren't necessarily good for them. Anyway, just thought I would share! |
