Collapsed Trachea Hi Everyone ... I am new here and my dog was just in the hospital for 4 days because of a bad episode of CT I really think she wanted to behome but the vet said they had to do all these tests and monitor her and finally I had enough so I took her home. After being home for a few minutes she was still scared but so much better... the vet said that I should look into getting Bella the surgery and after reading some posts I wanted to know your thoughts on CT and the surgery ... I am so confused and I think Bella has a case that can be controlled by meds .. My aunt's dog has been on meds for 5 years for this, and is doing ok:confused: ...please help! |
Welcome! I wish I had better help for you, but I'll give this a BUMP! ;) |
Welcome! My dog has recently been diagnosed with Ct also and is currently being treated with meds. How old is your dog? The age of the dog can have a factor in if he is a candidate for the surgery. Mine is not because he is too old. If you doubt what your vet is telling you, why not get a second opinion? |
I don't know your baby's condition, but it is important to stop her coughing, so it won't tear her trachea.. If she is in early stage of CT, you can try to manage her coughing with medication. I know that hydrocodone is one of cough suppressing medication. You may ask your vet about children's rubitussin(cough) as well. If you live near the city, you can check out East Village vet : 241 eldrige st in lower east side. tel)212.674.8640 I heard that dr. schabut is well experienced with CT and surgery is the last option in his book. He practive homeopathic medications as well which you might like. Hope your baby is ok. |
