How far are you willing to travel to get to a good vet? I am thinking about checking out another vet who is about 15 miles from us. That would take about 30 minutes or more, depending on traffic. If it's just a routine check-up, that wouldn't be a problem, but, if it were an emergency... I plan to keep our current vet who is good and is only 8 minutes away, but I like to have options...just in case. |

Our vet is about 22 miles away. They are great. There is a vet across the street from our house, and just last weekend we went to check out the boarding and daycare they have there. We got a tour of the vet clinic as well, and it is nice. I won't change our primary vet, but it is nice knowing there is another nice place less than a minute away, and they are open Saturday and Sundays. |

I just moved and just faced this situation! Our new vet is about 9 miles from our new apartment, but we went last week and it took about 20 minutes after dealing with traffic. I think I'd be willing to go about 30 minutes for a good vet. |

We have one that is about 1/2 mile from our house. We do not use him. He charges way too much and is not available on Saturdays or after 5PM on weekdays. There is another one about 15 miles down the road that we used in July to neuter Raley. We will use that vet if we need to again. However, our favorite vet clinic is 45 miles north. We use them because they are just so good and sweet. There client volume is extremely high so their office visits, vaccines, spay/neuter prices, etc...are very reasonable. The only reason we didn't use them to neuter Raley is because our very favorite vet in this particular clinic was expecting a baby! I guess to answer your question, I'm willing to drive almost an hour to get to a good vet! |

It takes almost 30 min. to get to our vet, he used to be a little bit further, but I've known him for over 20 years and I would never switch. |

I would say up to an hour....thank god Pasquale's vet is only 5 minutes away. But in a real emergency i would take him to Tufts Vet Hospital which is about 40 minutes away (driving really fast). |

If the traffic isn't too bad it only takes 15-20 minutes to get to our vet. There is a vet only 2miles away, but not really impressed with her- too cold and judgemental, didn't seem to put forth a lot of effort. Luckily, I have had the same vet for almost 25 years. He is very busy, especially since 2005 ( he is the vet from "The Little Zoo That Could" ), but he always seems to have time for my boys. I would be lost if I had to switch now! |

Hmm, well I'm lucky there's quite a few vets within 5-20 minutes of me. When Jackson came up limping and had been for a few days, I called his original vet and they could not take him til the next day which just wasn't going to work for me, so I searched around and took the first vet that would take me (I'm a little less than 10 mins away from them) and I was so pleased with them, I switched! They are more expensive but in general, I like them so much better. |

We'd keep Ellie's vet even if we moved across the country (in some capacity). For sudden but non-severe problems maybe an hour. For things we plan for, maybe a couple hours. |

The hollistic vet we see is about an hour away. This usually isn't a problem since we only see her twice a year. We have a vet closer, about 10-15 minutes away that we see for emergencies and things like that. |

The closest vet that we use is 50 minutes away. We live in a small town and there's just no one closer. It's definitely worth the drive. In the town we do go to, there are several, but I am very happy with our vet clinic. |

My vet is an hour and a half away but i have an emergency vet- i LOVE my vets philosophy on things so I wouldn't have it any other way |

There's quite a few vets, within 5 minutes of me, but I drive about 20 minutes, to get to the one I want to use...Of course, in an emergency, I'd go to the closest one, that is about 4 or 5 minutes, from my house... |

My vet is about 20 minutes away during low traffic times, but I'm in a city, so there is an animal emergency clinic near by. My vet isn't open really late or on sundays... so the common practice is everyone has their own vet, but the whole group rotates at emerg, I believe. Or something like that... *knock on wood hard* I've not had to go to emerg. When we had horses back at my mom's place our nearest vet was 1.5 hours away if you drove over the speed limit. It was a headache, but we just didn't have large animal vets anywhere, and none of those vets would do house calls either (common practice for horse vets). It came down to every barn learning a skill and having massive first aid kits, and the vet was a last resort. So I guess my conclusion after experiencing a vet so far away. I'm comfortable being a ways away from my vet, I took it upon myself to learn as much animal first-aid as possible. I know how to get a hold of my vet, and I'm comfortable operating over the phone to prepare my baby to transport to the vet if neccessary. |

My first vet was 2 minutes away. My second vet was 20 minutes away My third vet was 10 minutes away My 4th and hopefully last vet is 20 minutes away. It's fine for routine matters - for any real emergencies, I'd go to our local specialty hospital - 20 mins away. It seems no matter which direction I drive, it's 20 mins. |
