High Glucose Levels ??!? I am so worried!! My penny was just spayed today and the vet said she had elevated glucose levels. She contributed it to her being nervous. Is this something any of you have experience with? It was 181 and the normal range is to 143. Does this sound all that high for it to be diabetes? They said they thought it was her nervousness but asked if I had any concerns about her excessively urinating and drinking. Whats hard about that is she has always drank alot thus she pees alot. She is extremely active! I would love to hear about whether anyone else has experience with the elevated glucose levels because they are nervous? I plan to bring them a urine sample in a few days but I am going nuts wondering about it. Thanks for any help you can give. Pam |
I do not have experience with canine elevated glucose levels. However, do not panic as if it does happen to be diabetes it is treatable. Just look at how many Americans have Diabetes and live long productive lives. You have to think about it this way..... if it is, you have caught it in time. However, if it is not, then you have worried yourself sick for nothing. So take a deep breath, and just try to not run yourself through the ringer. I know that I have read somewhere here on YT, that there are yorkie owners whose pups do have Diabetes and they will be able to help you out. I will try to do some research and find out who they are. Hang in there..... |
