Anyone Try a Small Electric toothbrush? Has anyone ever tried to brush their yorkie's teeth with one of those small electric toothbrushes they sell for young children? I'm thinking about trying one because I think it would do a better job than a regular toothbrush. I just don't know if my boys would tolerate the noise. Anyone? |
I did!... and I had NO success...sadly.. I wanted it to work but Taycie freaked about the noise.. I just bought one of the children's ones too... It is an Hello Kitty one and its so cute:) Right now I am using guaze on my finger.. she is still trying to get used to getting her teeth brushed and that has worked so far the best for us!.. I use the Oxyfresh Pet Gel and Oral Hygiene Solution! So far we LOVE it! |
Yes, I use the Conair Interplak rechargeable toothbrush. It has a small head and doesn't make much noise, I use it with poultry flavored toothpaste and I feel like I can do a much better job then with a manual toothbrush. It's less than twenty dollars and they sell it at Target. Here's a picture: Amazon.com: Conair Interplak Rotary Toothbrush -... |
It took practice and patience on my part, but I use one on my guys. It's got a little round head on it and I bought extra heads so they each had their own. Once they got used to it, I found it to be so much easier than fighting manually scrubbing with a regular 'ol toothbrush. Now I just hold their beards, move the toothbrush across their teeth and let the little spinning head do the work. And of course they always get a greenie after. :) Bribery works VERY well with my furkids. hahaha They now know that if they eat that pill or tolerate that brushing that they immediately get a goodie for it. |

Thank you all for your replies. This gives me some confidence that maybe they'll tolerate the noise. Nancy, I plan on checking out the Conair Interplak next time I am at Target. Thanks again. :) |
