HELP! Confused about Supplements? What do you use? So I want the best for Taycie like all of you moms and every time I go the pet store I always end up in the vitamin/supplement isle! And I am confused! I hear people say if they are on a high quality food supplementing is not necessary. Now I am not sure what to believe??? I am feeding Blue Buffalo. I did start her on a product called Dreamcoat, made by Halo and I am seriously in LOVE with it! It does make her coat more shiny and soft! What I am wondering is if I should start on something like Glucosmine? If i start now while she is young will that be benificial? I always see alot of natural things like cranberries for a healthy urinary tract. I see Vitamin C and a daily multivitamin, am I supposed to be giving her all this? I want the best for her so if this helps her I will be on the way to store! ha! She will be 6 months on the 15.. So is she too young to start? Do you wait until she is older? |
That's just it. If you gave everything that people on YT use, you'd be giving (this is a condensed list): Multi vitamin Glucosamine with MSM Probiotics Digestive enzymes Omega oil Vitamin e Missing Link PetzLife Some form of toothpaste And obviously this is just too much. So you have to decide what your individual pup needs. Her food contains all the vitamins (A, B, D. etc.) that she needs. So that eliminated number 1. There is no need to give glucosamine if there isn't a joint problem present. And you just have to go through the list that way. A healthy dog doesn't need any of the above expect toothpaste. Some things may be beneficial though. Is she not thriving in some way? |
no she is just fine! I just didn't know if I was supposed to use vitamins/supplements! and I pass by the isle for it everytime and I think am I supposed to be giving this too?...basically I was confused. |
Personally i do not use or recommend any supplements. I do recommend a great food and that should be enough :) XOXO |
Glucosamine for both dogs.....13 and 11, hips are great, and no joint problems. |
Your pup is on a good food, if you love the dreamcoat then use it. If she is doing well I wouldn't worry about anything else. That's just my opinion, but as daddy always said if it ain't broke don't try to fix it. |
We give Kenzie 1/4 of a Bayer vitamins & minerals tablet twice a week cause she used to eat paper, lick concrete and to bite wood furniture, she doesn't do it anymore. I think that every Yorkie has its own needs and you as the "parent" know what they are. Have a nice day :) |
I think I'm going to try Dinovite and see if its "all that". At this point, short of pumping Neo full of steroids, I'm willing to try "snake oil" to treat his full time itchies. Now, even Connor is scratching-don't know if he really is allergic or if he is imitating his big brother! |
i use ark natural green granules (vitamin/min mix); and ark natural gentle digest (probiotic); but if you want a digestive enzyme; you can use the animal essential plant enzyme and probiotic (digestive enzymes and probiotic mix). you can keep using the dream coat or nordic omega 3. good luck |
