Tummy troubles from bully sticks? Does anyone else's dog get tummy troubles after munching on bully sticks? The last few times I've given them to Rhett, he's had diarrhea the next day. Same thing happened to Scarlett when I gave her the first one the other day. I've used different brands with the same result. It could just be coincidence, but I'm not sure. I hate to take them completely out of rotation because the both enjoyed them so much. |
Yes, Max had vomiting issues. I think it contributed to his last attack that led to his IBD diagnosis. |
Jackson only got ill after eating the bully sticks from this pet store, Pet Valu. He had eaten them before with no problems, but there was this one time, and I knew they even seemed extra stinky. So I wonder if they came from a different source. He pooped sooo much. It wasn't like water or anything but it was really soft and he had to go out to poop every hour for like 4 hours. We buy from BaxtersMommy here on YT now with no problems, and no stink! yay! |
Yes, Chelsea did get runny stools the next day when I was giving bullies from Westbrook Dog. I've switched to the ones Dana (Baxtersmommy) sells and she doesn't have that problem anymore. I think it's because these new ones take sooooo much longer for them to chew up, and before she was just eating too much at one time. I used to have to really watch her and take hers away after a little while so that she wouldn't get the runs but no more. How much are yours chewing up at one sitting? |
Bogey is fine with a bully but Pebbles will throw up every time. But with her I think it has to due with her aggressive chewing. She will chew until it is gone and then be sick. Bogey just got a bully for the GE and I have been giving it to him for a short time and then putting it up. I would never be able to get a bully back from Pebs~so not even an option. She would hide under the bed before I could ever catch her and then growl at me. Doodlebug does fine too but he hasn't had one in a while because of Pebbles. Oh and they will all steal poor Bogey's. |
it could be hard for him to digest or too rich. maybe it's best to stop giving it to him. no need for treats anyway; some can even cause digestive issues. food alone should be enough. you can give fruits and veggies as treats. |
