What food do you use? I have been using wellness core and the dogs are doing great with it but I havent researched foods in a while and Im wondering if there are better choices out there. I have been hearing alot of good things about solid gold lately but its also a local food here so I expect that. What do you feed? and if anyone has good websites that compare foods that would be great. |

if the food you are feeding is working; its' best not to mess with it. as changing diets can be very tricky. good luck |
I've used Wysong products for several years now, even though I'll try others occasionally, I always come back to Wysong. I would encourage others to at least read about them and their approach to pet food. Also, back during all of the pet food recalls, Wysong never had anything recalled. I trust them, something that's not easy to do anymore with all of the recalls. Recently they've added a no starch food (Epigen), I've been rotating with that, the Nurture with Pheasant and the Archetype diet. They also offer people foods and supplements that I use. http://www.wysong.net/healthy-natura...upplements.php |
We switched to Orijen this spring b/c of Maggie's severe allergies. She is doing much better with it and so do the other 4 fur butts. Very nice side effects: Maxie and Minnie don't eat poop anymore and all of them stopped digging their way to China and eat the soil... (I sprained my ankle when I stepped into one of their holes... :() |
Acana is my favorite food for the pups. I also like Nature's Variety, Fromm's, Now!, Orijen and Go! |

I've always wanted to try it but it's sooo expensive at our local store (from what I remember). :( Maybe I'll take a peek again next time I'm in there. I did request those free samples of the new food, tho! |

I've been using Natural Ultramix for puppies from PetSmart... Anyone ever used this.. Izzy our yorkie is 4 months old... |
I just switched Teegy yesterday to adult and I went with Orijen Red after some research. I was originally going to go with Wellness Core, but it's a local Canadian product and all their ingredients are brought in fresh. I think I might rotate him with their fish based food. When I opened the back it smelled like a roast beef dinner and the kibble isn't too big. He scarfed it down no problem (same company that makes Acana) |
Hi all.. I just joined yorkie talk.com yesterday. After many different breed dogs, we decided upon a teacup yorkie! Let me tell you, she has turned all four of us upside, 10 babies would be easier....I think?! LOL We cannot keep her interested in food. I have fed nothing but good foods to all our dogs in the past but this one, is VERY finicky! She is 10 months old and started her on Canine Caviars Holistic brand food, which she liked at first, now...she turns and walks away. Changed over to Science Diet Healthy Development for puppies, and I actually gag on the smell of it! Yuck! We have been adding a teaspoon of ground chicken in a can to spice it up, but now she walks away from that?! I want to feed her a kibble brand for her teeth and gums but cannot find anything she stays interested in. I read alot about Orijjen brand...Wellness in a can to spice it up....?? Any suggestions to keep this one finicky girl happy would be greatly appreciated. |

choose a high quality food dry or wet; and you can add a teaspoon of green tripe from solid gold or tripett; and she will eat the food up. never fails. try welness simple solution or blue bufalo |
Blue Buffalo Senior |
Thanks for the feedback! I have been hearing about 'green tripe', what is that a brand name of a canned food? Never heard of it? And the Wellness or Blue Buffalo, are those the dry kibble suggestions? I need something that wont run right through her, she tends to have softer stools from some of the foods and I need to get her on a routine once and for all because she goes only on a potty pad, will not go outside to the bathroom to save her life!! Will have her out for an hour and will not go, come in and go on the pad....if she is good enough to make it. Does anyone have issues with potty training? Heard Yorkies are very tough? |
What haven't we used would be the better question! :D Our dogs love Fromm, but it's terrible on their eyes. We bought trial size bags of Acana & Taste of the wild recently and they like the Acana. The taste of the wild isn't as big of a hit! We are using Trippett mixed in, which they LOVE, but it smells so bad! |
the brand for green tripe is "tripett" or solid gold green tripe. dogs go crazy for it. so u can add a bit to entice her appetite. welness and blue bufallo comes in dry or wet food; depends what u want to feed. any new food you feed will tend to give loose stool as it's new to the body. just introduce a little at a time. my dog goes on the pad too; and if i take her for a walk will go out too. but she prefers to go on the pad. |

Sounds like you have been through enough food tests yourself? I heard Orijen and Acana are good. Does the trippett give your dogs the runs? |

I have never heard of trippett until now....guess I better give it a try and hope it doesnt give her the mushy poops! I have been on the science diet for almost 2 months now and she still get the runs...but also eat bugs outside faster than we can grab her! What dry food do you use? And her being only 10 months old, should I use an all stages dry food or puppy? |
I recently switched to EVO small bites and so far, so good! Zoe seems to love it and I love the small size bites! |

Wysong offers Epigen <http://www.wysong.net/products/epigen.php> T, which is the first ever Starch FreeT kibble. You may be interested in reading our article on Starch Free <http://www.wysongepigen.net/Epigen%20Flyer.pdf> T vs. "Grain Free." Dry kibble pet foods that claim to be "Grain Free" actually have an inferior starch substitute such as potato, peas, or tapioca. In spite of marketing efforts that would have you believe otherwise, Grain Free diets do not contain more meat, nor are they more natural or more akin to what dogs and cats eat in the wild. Grain Free products have only removed grains in favor of other starch ingredients. Taking out the more nutritious wheat, rice, and other "grain" ingredients and replacing them with potato, tapioca, peas and the like doesn't actually make the diet any more natural or genetically appropriate. Think about it. are potato and tapioca any more natural to canines and felines than wheat, corn, and brown rice? Do wild cats and dogs forage for potatoes and roam far and wide in search of tapioca and peas? Of course not. The underlying issue -- which is that carnivores are not designed to consume a constant diet of starch -- remains unaddressed. |
dont use too much green tripe; just a teaspoon; solid gold has a green tripe at petco; great reviews and this one is balanced and can be fed alone if needed; not like tripett Solid Gold Green Cow Green Beef Tripe at PETCO |
