My puppy wont eat dry food - Help! Hi everyone! I have a question about my Yorkie puppy... Princess is 8 months old. We just got her a few days ago . She is the great! The only problem is that she refuses to eat her dry food (blue buffalo for puppies.... The pet store told us this is what she was eating there). The only thing we can get her to eat is Gerber turkey sticks (for babies...this is what they said to give her sometimes). We have tried to give her 2 different kinds of dry food, and different kinds of wet food too....she refuses to eat it. The only thing she will eat is the turkey sticks. Help please!:confused::confused: Thanks! Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated! |
Hi and Welcome to YT! Have you tried soaking the dry food in water to soften it? Also, don't give her the treat till after she eats. She's learning if she waits long enough, she'll get the turkey sticks. |
Your dog just may not like dry food or wet food. Zoey is 8 months old and wouldn't touch kibble or wet food given alone or mixed together ever since she was a baby. People suggest sprinkling parm. cheese on dry food to entice dogs to eat and/or moisturizing it with water, it may work or it may not (didn't with Zoey). You can give it a shot. I tried over a DOZEN brands of kibble (all great premium foods) with Zoey and had ZERO success. It may be that you need to try something different (premade raw, dehydrated dog food or raw). Hope you find something that works for your dog. |

you can feed a high quality wet food ; or raw food as suggested. check out aunt jeni's dog food. please don't feed baby food for a long time; i did and it caused lots of problems. you can always feed a bland home cooked diet; like ground turkey and oatmeal. |
