Update on Sadie's Foot/Nail

Well...after the weekend we went back to work/the vet with Sadie and the vet looked at her foot again. It was more swollen and infected even after the metacam and clavamox. They decided to get a better look they needed to sedate her and see it in detail. After looking they decided that it's either a split nail deep under the toe or it's just a broken toe. Either way there is nothing they can do until the nail grows out. Should it be a broken toe she'll have to heal naturally. If it's a nail split it will have to be cut back again under sedation. They did a cutback this time while she was under because at least now when she's walking the nail isn't jabbing up into her foot and hurting more. She has a foot bandage for 24 hours and continue meds for antibiotics and swelling.

Keep us in your thoughts please. Mommy is hurting much more than baby though. :(

Ouch! Poor Sadie! That sounds so painful. I know how much it hurts when I break a nail below the quick.

mom took off the bandage today and it looks bad. her whole nail is cut way way short and her toe looks swollen up still and like it'd hurt. i wish i'd have asked for a little pain killer cause that has to be sore. she's doing great tho. walking fine and hopping around in her little dog snow boot. it's all i had to keep her from licking as it heals.

i'll take her back in tomorrow or Thur for a recheck to keep having them peek at her progress.

Thanks so much for the love and support. Sadie feels better just from all the love coming her way. and mommy is feeling better too.

I'm glad she is doing great. I just placed an order for breathable indoor dog booties for small dogs for this very reason. If i had them here i would set them to you but it will be another few weeks :( Is the winter boot breathable for her?

She\'ll be ok soon. Sometimes it\'s harder for the mommies.
