what foods do you feed your yorkie? help! my yorkie is 10 1/2 months and he's been eating eukanuba small breed puppy food his whole life. but i notice it takes a while to get him to actually eat because it doesn't necessarily smell good. are there any other good dog foods that smell more appetizing? or is there a certain soft food i can mix with the eukanuba? thanks for your help |
Mixing soft food is not my favorite thing to do, it contributes to dirty teeth ... not the best idea. You should look into another premium brands such as royal canin, science diet, pro-plan , or if you prefer to go natural you can look at wellness, gold and a bunch of other better foods you can choose. Unfortunately eukanuba is not the majority favorite food. Good Luck ! XOXO |

There are other natural dry foods to choose from too. Petco is closest to me and they opened an aisle with new natural food brands. It's best to read the ingredients. Byproducts are the crushed bone, garbage junk from processing the food, and you don't want that, so look out for that. You won't find byproduct in the natural foods - but always read the ingredients just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps;) |

I feed Jackson Orijen and Acana, both made by Champion Pet Foods, and IMO they are some of the best kibbles out there right now. Like it's honestly better than the food I eat! LOL. Sad, right? I highly recommend either of these. Also, contrary to popular belief, soft food doesn't necessarily contribute to bad teeth. I do prefer feeding more kibble, because wet food is alot more expensive and gets old faster, and I think kibble has a PART in keeping teeth clean.. but it should never replace brushing of the teeth and other oral care. To say eating kibble cleans a dog teeth is like saying a human eating hard pretzels every day will keep your teeth clean. Wet food actually is a GREAT way to provide different protein sources and to get your dog interested in food if you don't mind doing it. Jackson gets a bit of canned food (one little spoonful) mixed in with his breakfast kibble, and sometimes dinner too. He highly enjoys it, he eats better, and I rotate different cans whenever one is finished. |

Hope this helps you. :) |
Izzy is a VERY VERY picky eater.. We finallt found that she loves and does well on Natures Variety Frozen Raw and Natural Balance Sweet Potato & Bison Kibble... She loves the mix.. She gets the ra in the morning then kibble through out the day :) And yes PLEASE PLEASE remember to brush their teeth... No wet or dry is going to take the place of teeth brushing:aimeeyork |
I use Wellness now and my pups love it. I've also used Solid Gold and they liked that as well. I switch up between the two so they won't get bored, but they are both natural foods. When shopping for a dog food, make sure the first ingredient listed is a meat. Good Luck! |
I wean my pups on RC weaning kibble. My others eat Natural Balance. Everyone seems to be doing good on it and since it is an all life stage food I don't have to worry if the pups want to eat it too. |

You can smell the difference when you open a bag of Orijen. To find a store near you, visit http://www.orijen.ca/orijen/storeLocator/zone-USA.aspx |
