The Itch Stops Here! Ok. So hubby and I have gone the "natural" route and have sprayed cedar oil products on the yard and on the boys. We're waiting to see if this works or if we're out $100. In the mean time, Neo is about to scratch and chew himself into oblivion! Connor is a little itchy, but even antihistimines don't help Neo. I'm going to try the lemon-water spritz, but plan on ordering the lidocaine shampoo and conditioner from Foster and Smith. Also, since we live in Mosquito Country, USA should I give the boys commercial heartworm treatment? I used to give Neo Interceptor until the vet suggested Advantage Multi. I'm just trying everything I know how to be the best Mom possible! When my babies hurt, I hurt! |
Please let me know how everything works out for you. We have been dealing with skin problems for years now. Now so more than ever...they say the fleas are really bad this year? Kaylee recently passed away and I don't know if it had anything to do with the different types of medications the vet's were guessing at. It's very fusturating and you feel like you will basically trying anything to make your babies happy and healthy. We are also considering a hollistic vet. Please keep me posted!! Good luck! |
have you every thought about it being the food they are on? |
We give Nala fish oil sometimes and we use NEEM shampoo and it helps. She was never CRAZY itchy but it has helped. Good luck. What food are they eating? Do they chew their paws a lot? |
Joey chews his paws a lot. We have changed his food. Then the Vet wanted him on Hills z/d food. Thats not helping. |
You could try California Natural. That might help so you could figure out which protein source works best. |
Just reading this thread and wondering what chewing their paws means. Would this suggest an allergy ? Pistol is on comfortis and we haven't had any trouble with fleas but he does occasionally chew his paws. |
I tried the Neem Shampoo. Washed both of my yorkies with it twice and let it sit for five minutes as directed. I thought all the fleas were gone and everything was great, regularly sprayed them with the lemon water stuff. Just tonight I saw another flea on one of them. I don't think the lemon water helped at all, and it seemed to go rancid and have a funny smell quickly. Any other natural suggestions that work well? FYI - I am allergic to eucalyptus, can't use it. |
