VPI Pet Insurance Hi All- Well, we've had little Harlie for a week. Last night when we put her to bed, she was fine. This morning she's limping a bit, favoring her right front...we don't know what happened. I felt of her real good and it seems fine and she doesn't act like there is any spot of sensitivity. I think it's just a mild sprain but it worries me. Do any of you out there have insurance on your Yorkies? I was thinking how financially devastating in could be if she got hurt really bad. I was looking for insurance and found VPI. Do any of you have any experience with this company? Thanks- Don |
I have ASPCA Pet Health Insurance and just paid for our 3rd year with them this month. We had a few issues the first year, but our vet contacted them and they paid the claim. Overall we have been pleased with them. I hope Harlie is feeling better. |
Thanks, I think she'll be okay. I was reviewing the ASPCA policies and it looks like good stuff too. Thank you for the info. Don |
I have VPI and I've been happy with it. Jersey broke his leg last Nov the cost for surgery was $3123.59 VPI reimbursed $1671.00. It didn't pay the full amount but I was so happy we had the coverage. The plan was effective 10/17/09, Jersey broke his leg 11/09/09. |

I know I was so lucky to have gotten the insurance just a few weeks before! I pay around 37.00 a month for Jersey which includes a wellness plan of $12.00 a month. I wanted to keep the wellness for 1 year to see if it's worth it. So far I don't think I'll keep the wellness. Brielle's plan (i think I have to check ) is $42.00 a month which will include $$ towards her spay. Once that's done I think I am just going to keep the accident plan on both for peace of mind. |
I am with Petplan. I did not want to risk anything and as soon as Poppy hit 6weeks old i insured her with Petplan on the supereme Insurance. She is covered for.... -£12,000 vet fees -life insurance (death from illness, injury theft or straying) the amount i paid for her -third party liability insurance of £3,000,000 . -She also has holiday cancellation £1,000 -Advertising and reward £1,000 -Boarding fees £1,000 -completmentary treatments £750 I feel happy that she is covered so i know if anything terrible where to happen she can always have treatment. xxxx |
Oh i pay £35 a month for that, which is expensive but its fantastic insurance xx |
I think you should check into Petplan. I did a lot of research on this and I think their coverage and cost was the best. I am paying $30 a month with a $200 per incident deductable and $0 copay. |
i have PetPlan and love it |
I have PetPlan for both my girls too. I looked at several plans and liked this company best. |
Did you ever look at trupanion?? Is petplan better....I need to get insurance for Trixie and cannot make up my mind...that is why it is taking so long. Thanks for any input.:animal-pa |
I have Trupanion and totally love it:D:D:D |
PetPlan covers alternative treatment When I first got Buster he had a few health issues so I started doing research on the best insurance for pets. I first went with Trupanion but decided to switch to PetPlan. My vet takes a holistic as well as regular approach to treatment. Petplan covered holistic / alternative treatment which the others did not. I figured with the yorkies problems with hips and joints having access to chiropractic and acupuncture before resorting to surgery would be a good idea if Buster ever had problems. Luckily since getting the insurance he has not needed it so I can't review the claims process. The reviews on PetPlan in online insurance comparisons were very good. |

I have PetPlan for Bonnie. The way I figure it is: at $230 per year (cost for the best plan) , I would have to save for ten years to pay a 2300 LP surgery or accident. If she got hurt or needed surgery in year 3, I would only have $690 saved. (I know I could save more:rolleyes:). So, I feel insurance is my safest bet. Of course, like all insurances, they are hoping you don't need to use it, in which case the saving account would come out ahead. I just don't want to take that chance. OH YEAH, there is a very good sticky about pet insurance at the top - very interesting info. |
