Does going nto a Heat cycle make the female sick I have a 2 year old Yorkie and she is going into her third Heat Cycle. She won't eat and is lethargic. I am taking her to a vet tomorrow. She seems to be running a temp as well. Is this normal? |

Its good your going to the vet to be sure. My girls before they were spayed, were very much like we feel at that time. Lethargic, no appetite, sad, bloated, just plain miserable. They are so much happier now. |

Lethargy is normal. What color is the discharge? I'd be concerned with the temp. |

Are you 100% certain she is in a heat cycle? Let's hope that is all it is. If it were my dog, I would take her to an emergency clinic to be sure it isn't pyometra. If it is pyometra, she won't get over it, it will kill her. The fever is especially troubling, I don't think that dogs in a heat cycle get a fever? Hope the Vet has some answers for you. Is there a reason you haven't had her spayed? |

My Apple seemed to feel horrible, when she was in heat, but I don't believe she ran a temp...I'd see about that, for sure... |

How is your girl doing? What did the vet say? |

It turns out Tilly is back to normal other than the heat cycle. She is just doesn't handle going into heat very well. Thanks for all the post. |
