? ? ? Constipation ? ? ? My Hazel has been doing VERY well with going on her puppy pads and outside near the front door. But this morning when she tried going #2 on her puppy pad she was literally pushing for 5-10 minutes . . . it was breaking my heart :(!!! i just gave her hard dog food yesterday, so i'm thinking maybe this is why her stool was a litter drier this morning. She drinks PLENTY of water:thumbup:. Hazel's daddy suggested that we give her a teaspoon of milk . . . should i? But she did get it out. the tip of it was hard, and the end was softer as usual, so should i still bother giving her the milk, or should i wait to see what happens the next time she goes ? ? ? |
I am so sorry your Baby is having trouble. I do not have any advice but someone will be here soon that can help you.;) |
You could try soaking the dry food in hot water for about 30 seconds or so just so its a little softer for her, then mix it in with a tiny bit of wet food.. thats how I feed my Poppy and her stools are pretty normal and she has never been constipated. You could also try mixing the dry food with a little bit of puppy milk. Good Luck. |
You could try a teaspoon of plain pumpkin puree (not the ready made pumpkin pie filling). It's high in fiber. |
Just wondering why you are giving her milk? If you give her anything dairy, I'd give a teaspoon of yogurt...not flavored, and not low calorie...If you can't get the full fat cream top, don't give it to her at all...When mine were little, and would get a bit constipated, I'd give them a few steamed green beans, or slice of apple (pealed) or a few blueberries...They still love all these foods, and when I'm having them, they have them...They all get 5 blueberries, every morning, because I eat blueberries every morning :)..When Apple was about 5 months old, the vet told me to put about 1/4 tsp. of metamucil on her food, twice a day, until she got some relief (not to be used all the time)...your baby will be o.k., it just takes time for their little systems to get all used to everything... |

Blueberries provide fiber along with all of the other good stuff inside of them. |

I'd give her about 5 blueberries...if they aren't organic, soak them in a little bit of vinegar water for about 10 or 15 minutes, to get off any pesticides....Then rinse them real good...If they're frozen, no prob...You can not feed grapes! |

Huh.... that's odd I give yogurt to harden stool. and it seems to work with harley. When I needed to soften Harley up a bit when he was little, my breeder told me to give him a tiny piece of bacon, I don't mind giving Harley safe people food so I whipped up some breakfast and gave him a small piece. |
Sooo I mentioned I just so happened to have blueberries in the fridge. I soaked them in vinegar water for about 20 minutes and then gave them to Hazel. She freakin LOVED them! I gave her 5 and she ate one after another. I wanted to give her more but decided to stick to 5. And I'm happy to report she is no longer constipated! |
