Thanks, I will call the vet tomorrow she did not say she definitely had it nor did she tell me a grade or call it that. Regardless I do think I want to look into the supplements just to be save. She did say she did not notice it at her first check-up. I have not noticed any limping, bowleggedness etc. | You may not see any limping or complaining. Every dog is different on how they handle what hurts them. Kaji is either fantastic at hiding his pain, or his LP doesn't really bother him. He had grade 3/4 (4 is the worst possible) in both knees. I have yet to see him favor any leg, or have him complain. He's always running, jumping, and playing. There really is little I can do to stop him on most days. The biggest factor with us is his weight. His vet told me that by 18 months, he would have grown and filled out to his appropriate adult weight, given that he was fit at the time. At 18 months Kaji was a fit, healthy 7 lb boy. If he gains any weight past 7 lbs (give or take a few oz), and he has in the past, his knees pop all the time. When he's at 7 lbs, I don't feel his knees pop. He put on a lb and I could feel it popping with every movement. He could be asleep on my lap, and one little sleepy kick his knee would pop.
I now watch carefully what and how much I feed him and I do give him supplements, but weight either makes or breaks it for Kaji. That's my personal experience with it. |
