Bought New food - Orijan
 
Hi,

I just came back from the per store and was given a sample of Orijen. 75% proteins - animal ingredients and 25% veggie. 0% grains. It was recommended by the seller. Anyone heard about it?

I put only few in Maya's food and it looks like she likes it...:p

Orijen is AWESOME! In my opinion, Orijen and Acana (made by same company) are some of the best kibbles out there.

Check out their new video on their website, Champion Petfoods | Home and watch their video on their main page they just uploaded. It's nice to see where your pets food is coming from! Great company and great food.

I am just trying a sample of the Orijen also. Acana Pacifica is their "favorites" --- must taste good, but I try to feed them the Now! Small Breed food from Petcurean as it really does help preventative dental issues. Their teeth are super white(noticeably) after being on that formula for awhile now (A month++ or so)

My boys LOVE Orijen. I agree with everyone, it is one of the best dog foods out there! :)

I tried Blue Bufflo before but it does not agree with my boy's stomach. I switched to Orijen and he's doing great! I have heard great things about both BB and Orijen. You should consider switching to either one.

Really? do you also brush their teeth? how were their teeth before you started feeding them Petcurean?

Just bought a sample bag last weekend and I am completely sold on this brand too!! Switched Tobi from Solid Gold to Orijen and will be going back this weekend to get the bigger bag!

Thanks for the link to the video. They use better ingredients than what I get for myself.

LOL, I know. Maybe we should all eat Orijen. :p:rolleyes: No, seriously, I've been researching human food alot more too and it's pretty scary alot of the stuff we eat. I'm gonna definitely try to get healthier myself!

I am actually going to add this food to my babies' repertoire after they finish the bag of kibble they are on right now. They get a variety of foods, afterall no one likes eating the same food day in and day out and they have never had a problem with changing foods. Once they finish one bag of food they get a different one.

I had so badly wanted to feed Orijen! It's from my home province and I LOVED that...knowing that all the ingredients are local (although I'm in the US now ;)) But, Snickers was still having problems while on it, so I had to stop feeding it. (We still don't know what exactly his problem is. Waiting on test results now).
Anyway, I know what you all mean about the dog eating better food than you...I've been home cooking for Snickers now and am SO picky about what he gets. I've never cared so much about my own food. The dog really does, literally, eat better than me. haha. As soon as we get things squared away with him (FINALLY figuring out what is wrong with him...he just had a ton of diagnostics done at UT), and then I get a nutritionist to get his food in place, I will have to work on eating healthier myself! :)

I'm sorry to hear that! If he needs something with a little less protein, you might look into Acana - it's made by the same company. Another great company (also Canadian) is Petcurean.

Hope your baby is better soon. :)

Thank you! Me too! It's been a lot of chronic stuff for too long and my vet felt he was a difficult case. He had two full days of diagnostics at UT this week and they even were a bit confused at his symptoms...that a lot of them didn't really fit together. He did not have a shunt, but they are thinking it may be possibly Addision's disease along with some liver disease or GI things going on.
Thankfully though, Snicker's is working with Dr. Claudia Kirk and I am absolutely thrilled to have her as his specialist. She is the department head of internal medicine and nutrition and is known for her work in nutrition. She said that after we got the results back, she would work with me on formulating a nutrition plan for him. It's such a relief to feel he is in good hands.

She sounds wonderful. :) Since there's a possiblity of liver &/or GI involvement, I would definitely follow her advice on feeding and diet. Hope they find what the problem is soon!
