Starving herself until sick! Lola keep's starving herself until she is sick with bile..... I think she is waiting to see if she will get any of our food. We have never over done things and given her lot's of human food, she gets some Chicken and sausage now and then. Does anyones else's yorkie behave this way? She does eventually eat..but after being sick...and about a day of waiting with puppy dog eye's! Laura :aimeeyork |
What are you feeding her? I know that Yorkies can be picky. Bailey went through that when she was younger - probably too many treats from training and not-that interesting of food. I tried kibble, canned, toppings - nothing worked. I finally took my mom's advice and prepared a nutritionally balanced homemade raw diet. It was the BEST thing that I could have ever done. Bailey now loves, loves, loves her food. We serve hamburger, ground turkey, cottage cheese, rice, eggs, sardines and a vegetable all mixed together. It can seem like a pain in the butt at first - but I make up several batches and freeze ahead in 10 oz containers. I make enough to last three months at a time. PM me if you'd like the complete recipe. Good luck! BTW - sausage - not so good. :) |
That doesn't sound good. What food is she on? I would try mixing her food with some different things. Lucy loves: canned cooked carrots; noodles; canned chicken (Wellness); chicken broth (homemade); green beans; cottage cheese . . to name a few. She's always been a picky eater but she has MVD too. |
I am no expert but when Tommi did not eat and threw up the yellow stuff, I gave her Dannon Fat Free Vanilla yogurt. And I would never give a Yorkie sausage, if anything try to keep their fat intake on the low side. But 'people food'??? Only boiled chicken and rice. Do not keep her on yogurt only, it does not fulfill her nutrition needs, but at least she will have the acidophilus and something in her tummy. Good luck! Try The Honest Kitchen products, it is a raw dehydrated food. |

My boy did that for a few days. At first I gave in and gave him all sorts of things in his food bowl to get him to eat. Eventually, enough was enough. He wasn't getting any good food in his belly, just the fillers that I put in. (yogurt, cheese, etc.) I just stopped indulging him because all I was doing was making the problem worse. He had good kibble, nothing greasy or full of bad fillers, and it was tasty to him. He ate the other dogs food sometimes and it was the same thing! I just had enough, put his kibble down where he could get to it all day, and eventually he ate. Knock on wood, I haven't had a problem since then. He's turned into a huge beggar thanks to my mom and dad, but he won't go off his food in hopes of a tidbit. He'll eat his diner first then try to eat mine. :p |
The quickest way for me to get Lucy to eat is to pretend to feed Ringo a bite of her kibble. IF I do that - she will gobble up everything in her bowl; dry kibble and all! |
