Bad Breath 1 Attachment(s) Okay, my baby Tia (DOB: 1/23/10) is starting to lose her baby teeth. Hoorah! Less to pull out at the vet when she gets spayed!!! My Ally had thirteen pulled when she got spayed. The problem is that it smells like she ate a dead animal. Is there anything I can do to lessen this odor? |
I'm having the same problem.. I'm very interested in what everyone says. |
This is a problem with Tink lately too so I'm interested in what others say. I just started using Tropiclean Fresh Breath Foam. So far so good, I bought it at a local pet store. Instant Fresh Breath! It has to be used daily for it to work. |
My baby girl is 6 months old and oh my, her breath is HORRIFIC! I have no idea what to do. I bought some toothpaste and a toothbrush for her but I haven't tried it yet. I am to nervous to use the stuff you put in their water. If anyone has any suggestions, I need to know them as well:eek: |
I remember when Sophie was losing teeth she also had bad breath. I don't know WHY, but it surely is worse at that time. However, nows the time to start getting your puppy used to the toothbrush. I use Petzlife Oral Gel. It also comes in a spray that you can spray right into their mouth. This is excellent at keeping tartar away. My local PetSmart carries it. If you can't find it local, many of the dog internet stores carry it. Good luck! |
Im dreading the death breath stage when Poppy looses her baby teeth, thanks for the heads up about the spray! |
I started brushing her teeth at 10 weeks when she came home. She would rather eat the toothpaste than have me brush them! ha ha Should I use the spray also? |
She's losing her baby teeth and getting adult teeth. There's the problem of a gum pocket where the baby tooth is missing, food can get in the pocket and mixed with blood, it's not a good odor. Also, for some dogs they get their permanent teeth before they lose the baby teeth and will have a double row of teeth and food gets in between the rows and rots. I use Petzlife Spray and Joey also chews on hard bully sticks to help scrape teeth of tartar. I also brush his teeth a couple of times a week, but I'm not sure if there is a lot you can do while they are teething. The smell goes away when the gum pockets heal. Now is a good time to get them use to toothbrushing! |
Humm... I don't remember a bad breath phase... it must be because I couldn't stand the smell of his tripe and started brushing his teeth on day one... teeth brushing is the way to go. |
Okay, I had to laugh last night. I decided to brush Tia's teeth every day, instead of twice weekly. After brushing last night, my husband picked her up and said, "Nope, that didn't do the job. It's deep within." It's like she swallowed a dead cat or something. We both started to laugh. The poor girl! Ally did have bad breath when she was little, but for a short time. We never saw her lose any teeth like Tia. The vet took out most of her babies. |
