Does anyone use Revolution for fleas and heartworm? I''ve had Sammy and Ellie for 2 and a half weeks and they are 17 weeks old. When I got them from the breeder they both had fleas and Sammy had ear mites, so my vet administered Revolution during their 1st exam with him and I haven't seen a flea since! It seems like a great product...flea/tick control and heartworm prevention all in one, with a once a month dosage. I need to decide pretty soon if I want to keep them on it (because they will need another dose soon) or use something else instead. Does anyone use Revolution? Are you happy with it? Are their any warnings/problems/concerns I should know about? Thanks! |

The people that use it seem to really like it. However, there is a growing number of vets who are finding it ineffective against heartworms. I personally would never trust it to protect my girl from heartworms, but maybe the vets still using it have not had any issues (or maybe they just haven't looked into it). They all can be ineffective at times. This one seems to get the most concern/complaints though. |

What to do? Oh, dear! I'm not sure what to do! My previous yorkie HATED Frontline. She would freak out for about an hour after the application, rolling around and trying to get it off her. My current vet said that fleas are showing resistance to it now b/c it's been around for about twenty years. I've heard the Comfortis can upset their tummies. What do you use for fleas and heartworm? |

I'm using Revolution and am happy with it. It's easy to apply, we never had a problem with fleas (knock on wood) and my vet especially recommended it in regards to heartworms. Just make sure you use it once a month. |

I've used Sentinel for many years and my dogs have never had a problem with it, and never tested positive on anything it is supposed to control (heartworm, roundworm, whipworm, hookworm, and fleas). One tiny pill per month, just stick it in a little peanut butter and they lick it right up. Downside is that it doesn't control tapeworm or ticks. However, since it controls fleas then it is highly unlikely the dog will ever get tapeworms. And I have never seen a tick on my dogs, so I'm not too worried about that at this point. |

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone! Lots to consider... |

I've used Revolution on all my girls from 3 lbs. to 8 lbs. I love it because it is dosed by weight. My 3 pounder gets the puppy dosage of 1-5 lbs. and the others get the 5-10 lbs. dosage. We have never had a flea and they get annual heartworm testing. We use it year round in Texas and have never had a problem. |

I figured I would resurrect instead of recreate a thread. Max can no longer take Sentinel:rolleyes: The vet just gave him Revolution to take instead. I'm interested if anyone else has any positive/negative input. Thanks. |

Prince has been using Revolution for over a year, and we have had no problems. He is so sensitive to a lot of meds, and this is the only one that didn't cause him to vomit, shake, or act lethargic. |
