Will Not Eat Willness We have Dharma on Wellness Just for Puppy. She was eating in the beginning, but we had to hand feed her. It's just getting worse. We had to throw the food so she'd chase and eat it. Now we tried putting it in the kong, and she eats it but gets bored. She sniffs the food and runs away. We mixed in wet Just for Puppy but I don't know if that is a good idea. Should I try switching foods? If so what should I switch to? Or should I try to keep at it? She is 4 months. My mom babysat her at her house one night so my fiance and I could get away for our birthdays. She said she ate great at her house. I think it's because she was competing with my parents' dog. She literally looks at the food and runs the other way. Even if we dip it in water, that was working for a little while, but now she sniffs it and runs away. We even hold it up to her....she won't eat it! Help! |
Try mixing in some wet food. It worked for Lola. I still mix in a small amout of gorund turkey (cooked). IMO I don't think a small amount of wet will hurt her |

I give Lola wet food (1/2 tsp or less) with all meals. I don't think it will hurt to continue the wet food forever. If it helps her eat...why not :) Here's what I do: I cook ground turkey, blend it and then freeze it into smaller weekly portions. |
for a while i was feeding ground turkey and oatmeal (ground) recently i switched to ziwipeak dry dog cuisine and tripett canned ; which is green tripe dogs go crazy for it and it's great for them. also it's an appetite stimulant |

I have Sydney on Wellness dry Super5 for Small Breeds and Wellness wet chicken and sweet potatoes. She too was a picky eater. I mix in a teaspoon of wet for her breakfast and dinner. I do cut back on the amount of dry, though for her. Instead of 1/4 cup in the morning and evening, I give just under that amount. My mom and dad's Yorkie Ginger wasn't eating much until they too added the Wellness wet food. Now she's done eating in about two minutes. lol There was a great article in The Whole Dog Journal that states today's quality wet food is actually better for dogs than the dry. Wellness wet food made the cut. |

the tripett has digestive enzyme and gastric acid that will actually clean the teeth. if u do some research u will find out that it is myth about dry food keeping the teeth clean; it's not true. wet food has more moisture so it will keep ur dog from dehydrating. ur dog's stomach needs to work harder to digest the dry food. u can try the ziwipeak which is dry and has the consistency of beef jerkey. brushing the teeth daily will keep the teeth clean; so no need for dental chews as they are very hard to digest and can cause digestive problems and blockage. i used to give them all the time to my dog until my dog developped IBD; after thousands of dollars no more treats or chews; just the ziwipeak and trippett and i give the ziwipeak as a treat; she goes crazy for them. good luck |

Gotta a question about the dog chews... I give him these ones called "get naked" or something like that, they are grain free... I know that... he only gets 1/3 of one for a 5lb dog every other day... the other kind I feed are Z-Ridge "bones" made by Zuke. I'd love to hear your opinion on those. I had no idea they could cause stomach problems. I'm guessing they wouldn't do too much harm because I don't feed every day, or anywhere near the suggested amount.. But I'd love to know |
