New Hi everyone I'm new to the community and would love zone feedback about dog food. Any suggestions fir my little Cooper who absolutely dislikes Natural Balance.thx |
Sorry can't help, thats what mine eats. Welcome to YT. I'm sure others can help. |
We had ours on 'Now', but on a recommendation of the store (which features holistic dog foods) have now switched to 'Solid Gold/Just a WEE BIT'. Our dog loves it and it has all natural ingredients without any chemical preservatives. When we added it to the Now - she picked out all the Solid Gold kibble. Having said that, there is a lot of controversy regarding grains, and I as a newbie am still sorting through the information myself. Hopefully some of the experienced members will hop in and add their expertise. :) |
Its been a tough one with Coops, he is so picky. I had him on Natural Balance, and he hates it, he seems to love the Raw, however it will be difficult to carry this when we travel, so I thought I would do part kible and part raw. I have him on Now as well and he seems to like that as well, lets see how long this lasts. Thanks for the feedback guys.:) |

As for the Natural Balance, thats what my breeder switched to, it's a great feed, I just didn't go with it because the shop close to my house doesn't carry it. |

One thing you could try if you can find it is Trippet. I was told when I was switching to NOW! that it is a great feed, however it was missing a few little things that a homemade or raw diet would give. Trippet is not made to be fed alone. I use it to suppliment my NOW! Harley is 3lbs and this is what he eats... 1/4 cup NOW! daily, and if you have a small can of Trippet (the ones with the pull tabs) divide it into 8 and he gets and 8th in the morning and and 8th at night. The tripe I find really helped perk the food up, and it's easier to travel with, it only needs to be refridgerated after it's opened. |
Ahhhh... the joys of picky dogs. ;) It took me forevverrr to find a kibble Jackson AND I were satisfied with. He was around 8 months old, I think, when we found Nature's Variety Instinct. He loved it! Totally great food for picky eaters, from what I've read, and the kibbles are really small so good for the little guys. I found my 15lber practically swallowed them whole, ha. He gained a little weight on the NV, but I was probably just over-feeding. Otherwise, he did amazing on this food and I wouldn't hesitate to feed it again. Currently, he's eating Acana grain-free and totally loves it. He used to wait days before touching dry kibble if it was just sitting out (I'd have to mix wet food, which I still do for rotation/flavor/etc) but with the Acana, if I put it out around 5pm just dry, it will usually be eaten by 7pm. He seems to really enjoy it. :) In general, I really really really think Orijen and Acana are some of the best kibbles out there. I also like Go! Endurance (by Peturcuan dog food) and Fromm (also tiny kibbles). |
