My puppy went limp!!! Hi All, Yesterday i was driving my puppy with me to work and she was leaning with her head on my forearm as she does quite regularly. I noticed that she was leaning harder and harder on my arm though with her head and neck, which caused me to see if she was ok. I lifted my arm and her head fell limp onto my lap!!! I started to shake her a gently with my other hand, and her whole body was limp as a rag. I started panicing, thinking she was dead and started to shake her a little more aggressively, and after about 10-15 seconds she awoke and readjusted herself to fall asleep. Has anyone ever had something like this happen? Do yorkies generally pass out when sleeping. I was thinking that she was cutting off the blood circulation by leaning her neck on my arm, causing me to check on her in the first place. All i can think about now is her limp little body and how i think she almost died. She seems fine now. Rambunctious and happy, but i'm so stressed. I don't see anything online about this in dogs. Anyone?! |
Oh how terrifying! I hope someone can help you figure out what happened. Maybe you should get your puppy to the vet to be checked out. Thank goodness your baby is ok now. |
OMGosh! You must have been terrified. Did your vet have any ideas about what might have caused this? |

But have you thought of a Convulsion? Or seizure like activity ? Just read about it and compare with what you saw ... Hopefully this is not it ! XOXO |

Oh boy very worrisome. Like other posters here, see a vet describe the symptoms. It is Not normal for a pup to pass out while sleeping even if their neck is sloped or canted on an angle. Not sure how old your pup is, but it would be very good to take her in for a vet check |
When was her last meal? Sometimes yorkies get Hypoglycemia-drastic sugar drop in toy breeds. |
Sienna is like this when she sleeps a bomb could go off and nothing all her senses totally shut down i have LITERALLY put a piece of chicken infront of her nose and she slept right through it i can blow into her ear and nothing if i need her to get up and go potty i have to pick her up and carry her cause if i pick her up and just move her out of her bed she will stretch and plop down right there and go back to sleep! |
Sounds like it could have been a hypoglycemic attack. Had she eaten recently? I would get her checked out at your vets to be safe. That sounded so scary. |
