I'm confessed I am a new Yorkie owner of a few weeks and like all newbies I am reading everything I can. I just read were some gave her Yorkie a little plain yogurt and another used cheese sticks in training. I thought I read the dairy was not good for Yorkies. Please tell me? right or wrong thanks |
I told you I was a newbie!! I meant I am confused, guess I should read the post before sending it |
Dairy, as in milk, is defnitely not good for them. In very small amounts cheese can be okay (provided they don't have pncreatitis tendencies) and definitely not daily. Yogurt is a different story because of the probiotics. Even humans with milk allergies can many times have yogurt because of the way it is cultured. Again, you want low-fat (not fat-free with aspartame) and small amounts. The probiots in yogurt are actually very good for them. Organic or greek yogurts would be the best choices.... |
I give Prince's pills in plain greek yogurt or cheam cheese, per his vet. He only gets enough to get the pill down. |
A tiny bit won't hurt them and may be good for them. Mine eats a teaspoon of cottage cheese every evening with her meal. She loves it! She also likes yogurt and is rewarded with tiny bits of cheese. |
