Advice Recurring Black Scabs Hello, my 18 month old yorkshire terrier Molly has a few problems as she is allergic to house mites, storage mites and has yeast infections. She is on Atopica, and has a weekly bath in medicated shampoo? However she keeps getting black scabs around the neck area. This is the 4th time they have appeared and always in the same place. The Vet has tested her for ringworm which came back negative and the do clear up after a course of anti biotics any idea's. Also they do not bother her and are not itchy. I find it strange as it is exactly the same place every time. Anybody got any ideas? Thank you. |
Welcome to YT. :) I do not have an answer to your question, but I want to bump your thread in hope that someone else does. |
Hope someone with more knowledge can help you with this. But, in case you are not familiar with this, there are Vet Dermatologists that work with skin issues. Personally, going to this type of specialist is how Piccolo was able to get a diagnosis, even though we spent a lot of time at the regular vet. In the long run, it was less expensive, too. Good luck and hope things get figured out for your pup. |
On the underside or upper? Does she wear a collar? Are the scabs teensy, or like the size of a pencil eraser? How big is the whole area? So, a scab appears without any bleeding first? Is it more like a crust? Is she greasy at all? Have you tried a prescription Gentamycin (has other ingredients too, incl. topical steroid) spray yet...if not, that would be a good thing to try if it's possible that it's bacterial or inflammation. |
Roxy gets black spots on her skin too. My Vet says this happens with age. I use Coat Handler - Skin Works for her spots. |
