Advantage Multi Hi Everyone, I've been asking a lot of people about this but I cant get a certain answer. My vet recommended that I put Advantage Multi on my dogs which costs a lot of money. So I was wondering, can I still give my puppies a bath because they get dirty pretty fast. I don't want to wash away the medication. They are about 15 weeks old now. Do a lot of toy breed owners put these type of flea/tick/heartworm medication on their little ones? Thanks |
Advantage multi is what I use on mine. I usually give them baths the day before it is time to put their meds on them. It is just once a month so , no problems with giving baths. Just do it after bath, or a couple of days before. |
Cody is on Advantage Multi, too. I think I read somewhere in the literature (or on their website) that they can be bathed fairly soon after treatment and they recommend not more than weekly baths. I also give Cody his treatment each month after I have bathed him. |

I also use advantage multi and also put it on after bathing. |
We also use it on Beau. I just give him a bath the day before and then he has to wait 4 days before he can go swimming. :-) |

Thanks everyone for your responses. So I guess I shouldn't worry about washing off the medication. I would like to give my pups a weekly bath since they love to get dirty/stinky. I've been just giving them the meds after they have dried completely from the bath or the day after. I was afraid of washing it off. You guys think it's okay just to give them a bath without shampoo? Just a good water rinse? I think I paid at least $120+ for 6 months worth. |
i give my lil one a bath every week because by that time she is so stinky she is my lil tom-boy and will roll in anything no lil diva here :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
I believe the Advantage Multi is a systemic medication , meaning once it is on it is absorbed into the system, so it cannot be washed off and its effectiveness isn't diluted very easily. I give it to both my boys (8# and 3#) and it DEFINATELY cheaper than flea and heartworm treatment seperately!:) |
Hi everyone, thank you for all your responses... i wonder how long it takes to absorb in the system then? I think i heard it was like 4 days after putting on the treatment, correct me if I am wrong |
