Licking the furniture ?????? I've started noticing that bella has started to do something very weird. She has started to lick the furniture is that normal??? When she is next to me on the couch i find my self looking at her and she is licking the couch. I put her down on the floor and she comes back up, and starts licking again. What's the deal why does she do that? Has anyone seen this before?? |
My boy does that too only it's my bed comforter instead of the couch. I don't know why he does it either. I've heard that some dogs can have a "licking problem"...I don't know though. He also uses his front teeth and bites the comforter too. He doesn't chew it up though just bites at it with his front teeth.:eyebrow2::questione |
Is the couch fabric? Sometimes mine pick up on a scent of food or body fluids :p (sweat blood etc) and they'll lick it until I pull them off of it! I give them a flossie to chew on and that takes their mind off of it. :) |
Not sure why yours is doing that. When Piccolo starts doing that, I have learned it means she has attached hair around her mouth stuck down her throat. Weird, huh? Hope you figure out why yours is licking. |
My female did that, and within 12 hrs. she had her pups. : ) |
Sometime if the furniture is new it has a smell of fresh varnish and so they lick it . So if you have new furniture or renovated it recently this might be the reason. Office Furniture Miami & Dade | New, Used & Discount Office Furniture Outlet |
A lot of dogs lick for something to do or as a stress reducer/nervous habit as humans might kick out a foot, twirl a pen or tap on the desk. It can get to be habitual-to-OCD type behavior so I would redirect her with a "No" command(not harsh or scary-sounding - just "No" firmly spoken) and get her to stop and focus on remaining calm and still or playing with a tossed ball or treat-filled kong until she's forgotten the new habit. |

Yep totally agree !! It can also be a way to deal with anxiety and can become distractive. Its best to stop them before it get too out of hand. |
