Strange behaviour in male yorkie PLEASE HELP!
 
Hi all,

I'm hoping to get some advice on my male Yorkie who is nearly 2. About two weeks ago I noticed a small bump on the inside of his leg. We found a flea on him and treated him and home so I presumed it was just a bite.

Anyways, Preston is quiet personable, meaning he is very odd and strange on the best of days! Now though we have noticed that he is hovering low to the ground running around, really sooky/ fidgety and hiding almost in bizarre places (shower, behind bags and tonight he was in the closet!)

I have noticed however that we are getting a few more of these bumps on the inside of his leg and he is constantly at them, and I can tell it's really irritating him.

Has anybody else had this happen to there dog before?

Any feedback would be great, thanks.'

It's good you have a vet appointment. I've learned here at YT that when a dog isolates himself as your Preston is doing, there is usually a health problem.

Hope your Preston is feeling better soon and that the vet can tell you what is going on with him and the spots.

Yeah, it's just so bizarre if there is some food he'll eat it. He isn't off his food at all, and he has always shaked when he is excited. =( I really hate him being out of it.

I'm so glad you're taking him in :). He may have a flea allergy too - and those can be just miserable for dogs, very uncomfortable. Until you see the vet on Monday, there are a couple things you could try -- get a Benadryl Pen (it's like a pen that has liquid Ben. in it, and it's for topical use) and put it on the area, give him oral Benadryl (dosage appropriate), put hydrocortisone cream on the area.

I am glad to hear you have an appointment to take him on. Usually when dogs hide like that there is a health problem. If he starts acting anymore reclusive or seems to be in pain I wouldn't wait and would take him to an emergency vet. I hope he is O.K.

Just an update, turned out it was a reaction. Plus he had a small yeast infection in his ear that was making him itch!! Poor boy felt so sorry for him, he was so out of it!

Good to know you were able to find out. What did the dr. prescribe?
